Back and hip pain: Hi has anyone got any info... - Pain Concern
Back and hip pain
Hi Ruby- sorry for your pain.
I have spinal construct in my back- rods and screws. I have no feeling along the scar and along side it.- massive nerve damage as a result of surgery.
I don't understand, therefore, how nerve damage might interfere with your potential operation. ( Of course- I am not a Dr nor do I have access to your notes- so I may be completely off the mark )
I wonder would a second opinion be in order?
On your particular question - I am on an opiate- Oxycontin- at a very low dose, 10mg x 2 a day- mainly for the osteoarthritis in lower back and hips.
It works for about 7/ 8 hours of the supposed 12. I take Paracetamol at hr 8 to potentiate the remaining opiate- and this seems to work. But definitely - I'm not a nice person in the hrs before change over.👹
Other options would be Tramadol or to go stronger - Fentanyl ( patches that last 3 days - again , issues of lasting the distance- but if you go that route come back to me and I'll give you the solution to that particular problem).
I hope that is of some help to you.
Do you attend a pain clinic?- they should be able to help you better.
All the best.
Hi mad legs thanks for your reply I have attended a pain clinic in the past I sometimes try to use the tens machine they gave me I try to meditate but don't get far these days I'm on tramadol, zapaine pregabalin and prozac I still have this pain but we have to get on with it don't we? I have had acupuncture in the past which relieved it slightly but I'm thinking it might have been coincidence I've lost my reflexs I still do the exercises from the pain clinic, we have a long long wait here in wales and I'm still awaiting my second opinion xx
