Well had a great phone call yesterday, would I mind having my spinal op done at Mr Bells harley Street clinic!!! Wow and double wow!! Why would I mind?? Would anyone mind?? And the appointment has been made for 26/07!! Waited 3 years for this and suddenly it's all falling together!! So happy. Taking discs out of neck and putting them in metal cages.

I wonder if I should take an autograph book??? Xx

are they fusing after the disc removal or replacing the disc, I am interested and want to know how you get on as it looks like I will need the surgery as the consultant said last time if I had not suffered a stroke he would be recommending surgery now but it is too dangerous so close to the event so have called me back in October. Please keep us updated on your progress

I will keep you up to date. I would think he will offer it to you in October and hope he does as it's really the only answer x

Glad to hear and hope it keeps improving and the pain reducing, Keep me updated with your longer term progress

I had 2 done lumbar disc on private (through insurance) and no complaints but the consultant was recommended and very good, had injections done in private hospital through the nhs and they do treat you a lot different than if you or the insurance are paying.

Have you had a cage built then as they were going to do?

I know absolutely nothing they hadn't told me anything. He said inches beginning that metal cages woul be put in. But I honestly have no idea. I watched it on you tube yest and it was like a metal hinge that got put in. Makes me think I'm making it up aa I go along. Hopefully Dr's tomo to see if she knows what I have to do lol

Should be fun xxx

Well if it's Doctor David Bell I wish you luck and hope it's a success.

But he's a liar and has caused me endless problems which will last my entire life, but as I am just a pleb my word counts for nothing.

On my first diagnoses after MRI he told me I had a crumbling spine and nerve narrowing and no spinal fluid left in the bottom 6 inches of my spinal chord.

His advice was to stop working and treat my spine like a thin fuse wire that could ping at any moment, so take life as careful and easy as possible but try and enjoy life while I can.

Then after not working for over 10 years and endless physio etc, this benefit crap started with this Tory Government so I had to gain all evidence possible, so I made appointments to see Dr Bell to get a up to date report, and he sat there and called me a liar and claimed he never ever told me any of that and he would never tell a patient to stop working.

So that left me with no way of getting the evidence I required for benefits and if what he was saying true, I had wasted 10 years of my life, ruined my pension, and no way to prove to any future employer what I had been doing for the last 10 years so leaving me unemployable.

I since gained another MRI including neck this time which proved the diagnosis was correct plus because the condition of my spine has deteriorated further and I have now got Ankylosing spondylitis on top of that, my specialist has given me the same advice as Dr Bell did previous (or didn't as he claims now) and my benefit is now reinstated. But I had 18 months with no money so now built up debt, and will struggle till the day I die.

Wether it's his political views or for what ever reason he decided to not be honest about previous advice I don't know but it's very wrong

That's awful! I'm so sorry for you. I can't imagine what you must of felt like. And no money for that long is horrendous! Sorry x

Ah Stix what an awful thing he did on you as if your going to give you job up without his advice and when a doc tells you you need to do it well thats what you do.

For him to deny he said that to you is extremely wrong and in his profession too wonder how many more lies he's told to other patient's.

I would avoid him like the plague. We don't need them sort in our nhs its bad enough without them goings on.

Lies will never win cause truth shall always prevail.

Limo1. All I can say is! never say never, someone sometime has to come out of treatment, with no long term pain suffering. But it won't be me in my lifetime, to many worn out joints that give me permanent pain, after a three week wait back to the pain clinic for a cortisone injection, for a sever pain spike in my hands. A few years ago, I could go to the G.P. and get one almost immediately, but Doctor's have been stopped from doing this now, they wonder why the NHS. is in such a mess, they don't want one going to A&E, result pain sufferers have to go on suffering for longer. Hermes123

I wish you the very best of luck with your op.

Do remember though, Harley Street is just a road where anyone can hire rooms. It doesn't mean they are the best doctors. Just those who rely on its old reputation, so they can charge a bit more.

Thanks fibro! And yes you're right but thankfully it's my specialist that is there for me. You're right because a few years ago I had to go via NHS to private hospital for a womb op. I asked for help as I laid in blood. Three hours later my hub picked me up and was still laying in it. Private obviously didn't mean best then! X

Have been for 6 wk check. Lol it was around the new hospital at the Shard!!! Whod of thought it.

I couldn't believe it myself but I suppose I got to see places I'd never of seen.

Total waste of time. He got up just to give me a hug on way out. He asked me about pain etc. I was in there no more than 5 mins. And he said be in clinic in 2 months. So I presume that means kings and back with the riff raff!!! Thank God as thiposh bit is too much!!
