I have a long tear in my biceps tendon and also a tear of the supraspinatus tendon in my shoulder. I am waiting to see a Specialist for this. I am in constant pain and especially as it is my right arm and I am right handed. Difficult using my left arm. Can you use a massager to help relieve the pain on torn tendons?

Get an MRI scan. I have had a tear in the tendon. This resulted in fluid and inflammation and pain. The inflammation I got rid of by a two course of erythromycin. Google "erythromycin anti inflammatory effects".

You need a masseur to help with over contracted muscles. You need to do appropriate exercises to help with the rebuilding of the torn tendon and damaged fascia.

I would not use a mechanical massager.

Ok thanks. I have already had an ultrasound and I have just had an appointment through to see a specialist next wednesday so I will discuss everything then. Wish me luck!

Whatever you do get them to do an MRI. In 2006 I fell off the back of a truck landed head first with my right arm out straight out to break my fall. I went to A&E as you do when you lose all use of your arm they performed an x-ray and told me there were no broken bones and decided it was a pulled muscle put my arm in a sling and told me to make an appointment with my doctor he came to the same conclusion and told me to rest and I was referred for physio at the local hospital which came through 6 months later anyway being self employed I struggled on kept going back to the doctor who gave me steroid injections into the shoulder... Around 2010 I had a camera in the shoulder joint to try and explain why I was in so much pain no conclusion came from it and gradually I got more and more use of my arm back yay!! last year my wife got a transfer for work to Switzerland so my new doctor here when I mentioned I was having a bit of trouble sleeping because my shoulder hurt when I lay on it during the night he sent me for an MRI (same day) and in the afternoon I was telephoned by the doctor could I come back in? So the MRI report shows that I've severed the tendon that was connected to the bicep muscle a long time ago and the tendon and muscle had both wasted away but also I have ruptures and tears in the other three tendons that make up the Rotator cuff.... Over the past ten years I've had numerous x-rays on this shoulder and nothing has come of them.. so don't be fobbed off with anything less than an MRI!!!

Sorry it's so long.... Good luck with your recovery
