hi sassyZee i have said a prayer for now you that all will go well with your operation and that the outcome will be the very best it could be for you.i always say a prayer for people who want a prayer i say it immediately and i know i'v done it. i love to have people pray for me in difficult times as the power of prayer is astonishing. i had an operation done last month and i had people on the forum pray for me. a friend on the forum put up a post and asked people to pray for me. i was so humbled and grateful. all my love, grace xoxoxo🙏💐

Thank you Grace111, it went fine. Hurting like hell but give it a week and that will let up. Don't know everything the dr. Did yet I go on the 18 to talk to him. He was supposed to repair torn bicep, rotor cuff, remove bone spurs. If the arthritis comes back as quick as last time I'll need a complete shoulder joint replacement. But for now Prayers were answered.

Grace111 thank you so much that put a smile on my face. Loved the flowers. The surgery center just called Checking on me. Told them I'm good just hurting but that's a given behind any surgery.

Hi Crusee, the surgery was out patient surgery. They sent me home with leg stockings and these leg wraps that pump on your legs to keep the possibility of blood clots down. The stockings are too small due to my legs have so much water retention. Not supposed to be by myself but my kids don't have the resources to take care of me. Where I have a adjustable bed or recliner I could sleep in. Cause the dr. Wants me reclining backwards but in a sitting up position. Had a rough day but God willing I'll get better shortly. The worst pain is the muscle spasms.

Thank you for your support.

I have had 2 clots following knee surgery and am paranoid about them now.

I have lymphoedema now as well diagnosed in last few weeks so wear pressure stockings all the time so I know how hot and uncomfortable they are.anystrange or sudden pain get it checked out asap.take care and best wishes for your recovery.

Hi SassyZee

Glad it went well for you, good luck with the recovery.

My shoulder's in a bad way but a total replacement is the only surgical option I'm told and that's not recommended for me due to the nature of the damage. I just have to live with it.

Having read of some peoples' experiences with a replacement I'm not sure i'd want one even if I had a good chance of it 'working'.

All the best.

Hi Ade, my people I know personally who has had a replacement has had great results. I guess depends on the dr. To they had theirs done by my surgeon. He is one of the top Orthopidist shoulder surgeons in my area.

Hate that you have to live with the pain. I'll keep you in my prayers.

The bit I was reading explained that for a total shoulder replacement they have to cut through the rotator cuff. As muscle can't be reattached and as this is the main muscle used to lift the arm I don't think it matters who does it, you have to use totally different muscles to lift your arm from then on.

I just understand it's not a walk in the park!

Hopefully neither of us will ever have to go down that road.

Ade

Ade I hadn't thought about that hmm now you given me something to think about. cause they say i need a total replacement on my left shoulder due to arthritis. I may live with the pain a little longer considering the pain im in from this surgery I don't want no pain like it again for a good while.

Yeah, my shoulder hurts a lot but I'm not prepared to take the risk. After being told (for me with my combination of shoulder problems) that there was a 30% chance of it totally not working and me ending up in worse pain for life and also even if it worked as well as could possibly be hoped for, I'd have no more mobility (probably worse) and a slight reduction in pain.

I'm not a betting man in particular but those odds are crap.

I'm going to stick with it, keep trying to mobilise and strengthen the muscles as best I can, and if it ever becomes so painful I can't function, erm. Cross that bridge when I get there.

Not trying to sound negative by the way, I'm sure there are people that have very successful outcomes, but for me it's too risky for little potential gain. I've managed it for 10 years now so fingers crossed.

Hi Ade, I know what you mean. I was the same way when they did my first shoulder surgery June 2, 2016. Then the wreck happened 3 weeks after that surgery. Causing more problems. I had waited till I couldn't take the pain no more then this. I took pictures last night for the law suit. My shoulder is so purple and bruised my daughter understands why I'm hurting so bad. I was up and down all night nauseated and nothing helping it.

Lord I forgot to type, I talk to my neighbor who is a good friend to me. I asked her to show me how her arm is limited due to her total shoulder replacement. She can lift the upper arm to shoulder but no higher. She uses forearm to reach higher. So I see what your talking about.

PFKAAde profile image
PFKAAde in reply toSassyZee

Yeah, I can get my arm to about there before pain / stiffness prevents me.

Can't put my hand behind my back at all.

But I don't think this would improve much / at all even with a successful shoulder replacement. So it all boils down to the pain, and the odds of making it any better are not great and the odds of making it worse are not small.

At which point I stopped thinking in terms of 'fix' and started thinking in terms of 'manage'.

I hope you have a speedy and as pain free as possible recovery.

Ade

I've kinda change my mind on shoulder replacement to. The one I had surgery is hurting so bad. The left one hurts almost as bad. But I don't think I could handle another surgery on the other shoulder. If I do it will be a year or so down the road when I can't stand the pain no longer.
