Lymph nodes

Hi everyone. For the past month, I noticed that my lymph nodes in the neck are swollen and painful. Sometimes they hurt and sometimes they don't. I don't have any other significant symptoms (except muscle tension). I'm really worried as I read a lot of scary stuff online 😔 I hope someone could give me some answers? Thanks for reading.

Perhaps a trip to the doctors is required, nothing worse than reading it up on line and I mean any problem on line, almost all mention Cancer but being realistic there are many others things that it could be not just the C word. They could be up for no good reason. My husband has RA his lymph nodes were up and down like a yo yo.

I think you should stop worrying & see the doctor to put your mind at rest.

Hi Jen,thanks for reply. I'll visit the doctor asap. I'm only 18 and reading all the stuff online is frightening, especially the C word. I'll let you know how the doctor visit went. Best wishes xx

Hi Kate I agree with Jen. Looking online and go ogling your symptoms is the worst thing you can do which will cause you all sorts to worry about so go and see your doctor for a proper diagnosis. Your symptoms could be 101 different things so don't worry too much at this stage. X

Lymph nodes will swell up with infection as well as other nastier things. The only way you can find out is by visiting your doctor.

it could be glandular fever go to the docs young lady xxx

Nah, I don't think it's glandular fever, my throat isn't sore and I don't have a high temperature.

Please see you gp asap. Worrying will make you feel worse.

Hi Kate, usually when a lymph node swells it's a sign of an infection somewhere near the swollen node, if it's in your neck you could have a infection like a sinus infection etc but you must see your doc to know for sure especially if you have fever also meaning you may need an antibiotic.... Don't let the things you read online scare you.... lymph node swelling could be any little thing but you figure the body is fighting something even a sore throat ok? and please see you doc.

Hi,thanks for your reply. I have a nasal polyp, could that be the reason? I already have an appointment with otorhinolaryngologist in two weeks because of polyp,so I'll ask her to check my lymph nodes as well, but before that I'll visit my GP too.

Please don't worry.... I remember I had a swollen lymph node under my arm right and examine my breast right away.... yeah lump in my breast... I freaked at first and called my doc.... the main thing that kept me same until my visit was that thr node was only swollen on one side and thr lump was moveable.... but I was still sweating it glad I didn't know how to use the WWW back then and it was benign fibrocystic disease which is not and won't turn into cancer.... hope this helped with the anxiety which is natural ;-)

Glad to hear that it wasn't anything serious. I'll try to worry less, but it's hard not to. I found out that my doctor took a vacation & I don't know when she'll be back so I have to wait now 😕 In the meantime,I'll just pray that everything will be alright.

Maybe I didn't see all your symptoms other than you noticed a swollen or hard lymph node possibly you were feeling the lateral sides under your chin/ under your ear but do you have any symptoms of a disease process like fever, nausea, even running nose then please don't worry, just see you doc as soon as you can

I don't have any of those symptoms,it's just that my lymph nodes in both sides of neck are hard and they don't really move when I touch them, but after the doctor visit I'll let you know how it went. Thank you x

the internet can terrify people with worries makes it ten times worse, i never look up symptoms, apart from my cats and dog and i only did that as one of my cats has a liver problem and was back and forward to the vet staying in and coming home with all different meds we know she has this problem and i use common sense as to when she needs a vet
