pain injection fear
The injections they do into your spine usually have a local anaesthetic in as well as the steroid, so that numbs the area quite nicely. I wouldn't imagine you would need a sedative for that kind of thing? I never have. You may feel it a bit uncomfortable as the injection goes in, but I didn't find it painful and definitely not as bad as some vaccinations. It did ache a little once the local anaesthetic had worn off, but then very soon I got really good relief so it was all worthwhile.
Just try to relax when you have it done, and think about the benefits, and it will be fine.
You won't be sedated as it is a local anaesthetic. I have had these injections in exactly the same places without any problems. You may feel a little discomfort but honestly I felt nothing x
Hi I've had four of these injection done in theatre . I have sacroiliac pain plus hip bursa I couldn't walk for 6 months they helped me not right away but I would have them again . I found the pain got slightly worse for about a week the started to reduce .
Only side effects I had was hot flushes . Go for it . You can then if needed ask to be referred to pain clinic
Good luck x
I've had in excess of 20+ pain injections in the si joints, you won't be sedated but given a local anaesthetic. There is some discomfort from the local injection and when the steroid is pushed through but it's bareable if you get some relief from them. I unfortunately didn't. Xx
I have had the SI injections & it didn't hurt. The consultant had been doing them for 20 odd years so was an expert!
