I got the dreaded brown envelope this morning with the great news that I have been awarded the enhanced rate for both components of my PIP claim

It is awarded until October 2017 so takes a huge weight of my shoulders and now I can concentrate on getting better without worrying about money

Hi poppyb62, congratulations what an achievement!!! I am considering applying but absolutely daunted by the forms and questions. Any tips? When I read some of the questions I think oh Im not that bad, like can go to the toilet or dress myself, don't want to claim anything Im not entitled to. Ive just lost my job due to cfs/fibro so am very worried about finances. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joe

I have since been told that you need to fill the form in based on how you are on your worst days.Give lots of detail on how your condition affects you on a daily basis.Ik you are on Facebook there is a group called Fightback4justice.That has lots of advice to guide and help you.Go for it and good luck x

Hi poppy62

So pleased to hear that you have received your long awaited PIP award. At least you can get on with your life without that worry. X

That is great news :)

I had a DWP person come out to my home as I was bed bound... I am managing about 20 aided with crutches steps around my home now.. Oh but it's exhausting! They sent me a letter and I am currently waiting for an assessor to visit me at home. I cannot believe how long the process takes. Fingers crossed they come soon!!

Brilliant news about your claim, I wish you well :)

Hi to all making a first claim for PIP or changing from DLA (which I will be facing at some point soon even though my DLA award was 'indefinate'), I've had brilliant help from the 'FIAT' team at our local council, they know all the rules & how to fill the forms in & will go through everything with you. It can also help to join 'Benefits and Work' - visit their website for details of the help available. I'm sorry this is so short but they really are worth checking out.

Good luck & Best Wishes to all

Hi Yorkie27

What does FIAT stand for?

Good luck to all still going through the application process x

I'm glad you have a result that will help you. It is always important for people

to provide the right back up letter with claims. I'm not sure what you did, I'm

just saying here for people that may feel upset that they have not got what you

have. I wish you only well.

I know how some people struggle James to get the benefits they need so I didn't post my news to make other people feel bad.I wanted to show that it is possible to win the battle and get the help you need.I do understand how hard it is as I have been struggling for months trying to get help and support x

I think you have shown poppy a negative james, all poppy did was tell the truth like I did unfortunately this as not happend to alot of people I no but that's no reason to think poppy is rubbing it in its nice to see for all the people trying there is hope,I also honestly believe some people have been getting dvla who shouldn't just as much as people who should don't you see this everyday if you look closely and maybe in some cases it's sorting the scroungers out as well it should because as with other benefits for years it's been a easy option to work

Thanks for your kind words.I joined this site as like a lot of people who suffer chronic pain it is only other sufferers who will truly understand how difficult life is.I wanted to share my good news to encourage those still fighting to keep going. I do not have a mean bone in my body and I would never gloat about getting my PIP award without having to go through the appeal process x

Oh someone sounds bitter !!! Poppy was expressing there's hope for people to have a positive outcome which can seem a daunting and drawn out process!!! Maybe look at the glass Is half full instead of half empty . Are people supposed to keep their happiness to themselves incase it upsets anyone? This lady can help others so maybe think outside the box in future.

It was a reply from James that seemed to suggest that I was wrong to post my good news as it would seem unkind to anyone who had not been successful in their claim. As I said to Sian I am so grateful to have won my claim till October 2017.I really hope my health improves so I can return to at least part time work in the future. Thanks for your message of support missdianne x x

I think the awards should all be for longer periods of time, say ten years. Calling people in for reviews every five minutes is not reasonable, yearly.

I have received my renewal form last week so here we go again - back trying to talk to complete strangers about my life and my problem who decide on 60 minutes observations what I am capable of . Good luck to all my fellow warriors fighting for what we are entitled to 😐😐😐
