Hi everyone

Hi. Yes, Ive had this since being a teen (as well as chronic pain). Spent years only ever wearing black or white tops, preferably sleeveless, to avoid swat patches. I also get very sweaty hands and feet which is annoying in yoga classes etc but not so much of a big deal day to day. Used to use some aluminium chloride stuff but it really really stung and made my skin really swollen and painful. I use Sure max protection now and it's good. About £5 for a stick - you put it on at night and it works while you sleep when your seat glands are less active. You only need to use it every few days, but if you have a particularly bad problem you could use it every night as it doesn't sting or damage the skin at all.
If not, see your GP, as I think they can refer you for botox injections to stop the sweating.

Hi thanks for your reply I'll try this deoderant it sounds good 😬
yep agree with you there that's what I use too - was tricky trying to remember to put it on before bed but it is the best I have found.

Yes I have this problem too but I put it down to the pain meds I'm on. It stinks too unlike any other !
I haven't found anything that helps but hopefully on this forum we may learn of something
Thank you for your reply it's nice to know I'm not the only stinker!! 😬 fingers crossed we get something that helps
Hi Chawner,
My sweating stopped after a chemical sympathectomy. The intention was to improve the circulation around my leg/foot/ankle. The circulation didn't improve greatly but the all the time swelling reduced by about three quarters and the sweating stopped. I have CRPS too and wondered if the pain clinic have suggested this for you. They want me to think about a spinal stimulator, I've tried everything else that they have suggested but need more time to think about that one. Do your affected limbs feel like they are burning inside but cold as marble to the touch on the outside? Crazy sensation isn't it and I know it must be hard for other people to understand but the complete lack of understanding from those that are important to you and the medical profession in general is frustrating beyond words.
Take care
Jo
I am on morphine patches as well as other pain meds and have really bad hot flushes. It is quite embarrassing if I am talking with someone and I start pouring with sweat. I explain to them about the meds and everyone has been most understanding.
I use Right Guard and that seems to work for me. Remember to keep hydrated because of the fluid that you are losing as well as the salts etc.
On a lighter note, I did wear a heat patch once at work for my back pain and forgot that I had it on. I spent the rest of my shift wondering why on earth I was so hot and everyone was asking me if I was OK because I was sweating so much.
Lol think I'll steer clear of heat patches!! Thanks for you advice, I'll give it a try 😬
I have become use to the sweating for me it is not the meds that are the cause but the pain, when the pain builds up then the sweat pores out i found that just to go and wash using a face cloth and dry yourself is the best, antiperspirants just work by blocking the sweat glands and deodorants work by putting out a stronger smell than the sweat the problem with antiperspirants is the body sweats to get rid of heat and by using them you prevent it from doing so which can raise your body temperature which is not good for you using deodorants just hides the smell with a stronger smell which for me is not good as I hate strong false smells i would prefer to smell horse dung than some women who have dipped themselves in a cheap perfume.
So just use the sweating as a warning that you are doing to much and take a break and rest then go and have a wash, if you are on strong medication that masks the pain using the sweating as a warning is better than covering it up and continuing doing something that is bad for you.
Regards Poppy Ann.
I use Mitchum 48 hour deodorant and I have found nothing better. Good luck I hope you find help.
There can be cause for excessive sweating. This is muscular pressure on on certain nerves. Remove the pressure and the sweating may well disappear.
What I have said may or may not be true in your case.
This may be worth investigating via an Alexander Teacher or McTimony chiropractor.
Diet has an important part to play. The diet may not help the sweating, but it will influence how quickly people notice stale sweat. Certain foods need to be avoided.
Hope this helps
