I think you are being checked out for ankylosing spondylitis? If so, then do make sure your rheumatologist knows about your raw looking feet - it could be psoriasis, which would mean they might want to consider psoriatic arthritis (another form of spondylitis) as your diagnosis. If you aren't seeing a doctor for a while, get someone to take a photo of your feet so you can take it to the rheumatologist. Are you on any meds? If not, ask your GP to prescribe antiinflammatory meds - NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen, as that would be what the rheumatologist would give you anyway. Ibuprofen and naproxen and meds like them are what a lot of people just consider mild painkillers, but they are much more than that as they are really excellent antiinflammatory meds, which makes them so useful for AS or PsA. If you deal with the inflammation, then the pain reduces heaps. You do need to take them regularly and at full dose though, so if you have been given them, don't hold back and only take them when you are desperate, or they won't work anywhere near as well.

Ask your GP for a referral to a specialist who can deal with your problems. Keep on trying to see someone who can help. Its taken me over two years to get a diagnosis of

degenerative arthritis in the spine.

Go online and see if there are any groups being run in your area such as book clubs, cookery, knitting eg, its a foot in the door. I have found when you are isolated you don't hear of any events happening.

Its very difficult trying to cope with pain and not being able to share your feelings with anyone.

Hope you get some help soon.

Ann

Louise, isn't your MRI result due any day now? Also, when you see your rheumatologist, take a list of questions you want to ask and make sure they are answered before you leave.

Well Louise, it seems that the scan is not showing anything drastic. You could ask for a copy of the scan. Perhaps the rheumatologist could take a look and try to explain to you what the scan actually reveals. Which hospital are you under?

Louise, I'm not sure if there is a very scientific test for fibromyalgia apart from a rheumatologist pressing on certain trigger points around the body. This usually forms the diagnosis. Good luck and I hope you get help soon.

Sorry you are suffer , Dont know whats causing your problems but I pickef up on you mentioning the crawly feelings.Tnhis sounds like restless legs symptoms, which contrary to its name affects arms, feet and other parts of the body. I have it in legs , arms, feet and shoulders. When you get the crawling feeling does it feel better when you move around and worse when you relax?
