Hello

BOB here

This medication is a pain killer, a mixture of TRAMADOL and PARACETAMOL.

Tramadol is opiate

Paracetamol is a standard pain killer

Both drugs attack pain in different ways.

Amtripiline is an antidepressant This medication has a useful contraindication for controlling nurological pain

Hope this helps, you will find these two medications on NHS CHOICES

All the best

Hi Blacky, i use Amtripiline and have for several years the only thing it does for me is let me get a little more sleep, if for any reason i have not taken it before bed i can lay there all night and not get any sleep but when i take it i normally manage to get at least 4 to 5 hrs a night, i am on many other pain killers as well but they only reduce the pain, i know many people who take Amtripiline and say that they cannot do without it but i do not feel that way myself.

good luck with the pain relief.

hiya blacky,

I am now going into my second week of amtripiline, doc gave me for sciatica and they seem to be working the pains nowhere near as bad now getting pins and needles feelings in my leg. I was told to take them at night one hour before bed, certainly sleeping better, only to side effects iv'e found so far feeling grogy in the morning with a dry mouth.

will let you know in two weeks time after the course of tablets have finished whats happened to me.
