Three months treatment. My earlier post didn't take but in it, I was passing on latest breakthrough study from Danish scientists which docs are saying will tansform treatment of chronic back pain. Extensive studies prove many of us have the pain via infection which has intruded through disc degeneration. The bacteria identified is normally found on skin and is acne related. 3 months of augmentin has cured 40% and will negate surgery. There's possibly a Nobel nomination in the work. NHS not rushing to go for it and want proof bacteria present. It's a bit like the treatment for stomach ulcer which was a breakthrough a few years ago. Not sure I could tolerate 3 months augmentin - yeuch ! Penicillin, yes. But that's only part of augmentin. It's the other part, clavanulate, can't do it! Good luck everyone! Talk to doc, that's first thing to do. Look research up, it was in Guardian and Telegraph yesterday. Google !

Clavanulate is mixed with penicillin to make an antibiotic called augmentin.

My pain could be caused by extensive degenerated discs, cervical and lumbar, stenosis of lumbar spine adjacent to cauda equina and stenosis in cervical area. Also in neck, c2 has slipped slightly over c3 which is a bit high for my liking. Theres other stuff as well.I have reached the stage where I do not dwell on any of this as it occupied my mind for three years solidly, along with trying every pill and seeing every consultant. I now concern myself with the functional aspect, ie relieving the pain and stiffness in, usually, alternative ways to using mainstream meds.
