My first gyno appointment
Hi Sandra,
Thinking of you and sending you best wishes for tomorrow, love x G x
I was always try and get a CT scan organised as well as a blood test. They may offer an ultrasound first which fits in with the NICE recommendations but I am not a great believer in these and just wastes time, go for the scan, good luck
Hi Sandra,
I know it's useless to say "try not to worry" but I will anyway. The good thing is that it sounds as if they have sent you for investigations early. I was 3 years before I got to your stage. I was diagnosed by having an ultrasound scan, which in fact picked up the masses on my ovaries, then a trans-vaginal (internal) ultrasound scan ...nowhere near as bad as it sounds, completely non-threatening.....then a CA125 blood test, Within a week I had an appointment with a gynae oncology specialist who operated within another week. It is different nowadays in some hospitals, for some women, as they tend to do some chemo before the operation, if this is deemed necessary. The main message is, it's good to get it investigated, your hospital will know what they're doing and will not take any chances if they suspect OC. I never had a CT scan, so it just goes to show, all cases are very different. If you want more info about signs and symptoms, go onto the Ovacome website ovacome.org.uk and have a look at their info sheets. they're under resources, I think. Also there's an option on the left, 'BEAT ovarian cancer with Ovacome', which has a tracker where you can fill in symptoms and print out to take to your appointment. It may help.
Good luck. and let us know how it goes

Hi Sandra
Best of luck today. Be strong, and remember that its better to know more than less. You can and will cope with more information, and you don't yet know if there's anything to worry about. If there is: then treatment will rapidly follow, and that can only be good. If not, then you will start to get some explanations for how you have been feeling, also good. Both recommendations above are good - push for a CA125 test, get the best scan possible, don't let them faff around, and prepare your information with the tracker so you can convey it all really clearly.
Fingers crossed for you; let us know what happens won't you?
Love

Hi Sandra
I have been following your story and just want to say good luck for today. I am sure that you will feel reassured afterward that a plan has been put in place for you.
You may want to consider asking the consultant how you can get in touch with him or her if you have questions later in the week. Most are more than happy to give you an email address or a 'phone number of their PAs.
If you are given a choice as to what to do ( many doctors do so now ) perhaps ask what they would recommend if it was their daughter / sister / best friend.
Aslo regardless of what the tests have shown I would not delay an operation any longer than necessary i.e. for school holidays , weddings or whatever. The tests really only give a very good indication of what is going on , the only really certain way of finding out is removing the mass and examining it.
Take care
Big hug
