It seems that us peeps on here are having a bit of a quiet time with Ovacome postings , myself included . It's that busy time of year ,when we are trying to organise Christmas for ourselves and families.( I don't know why Father Christmas always gets the credit, it's us women who put the graft in !!! )
All of the extra shopping , cooking , wrapping etc , it becomes a good distraction, well it does for me .
It's a good feeling when I realise that a few hours have passed and I haven't thought about myself and cancer or anything linked with it.
My sons have been asking what I would like for Christmas , just to give them a couple of ideas . And I always say, the same every year , " Ah , don't worry bout me or your dad" ( I can hear a snort of disatisfaction from Mr. bah humbug behind me !!.haha) "You just concentrate on the kids , it's expensive enough these days " ( more snorts from behind ...)
But this has set me thinking. Hmmm... what would I really like for Christmas ???
It won't have a ribbon, or wrapped up with lace .
It won't have a fragrance, or colour or face .
It won't even rattle or tinkle when shook.
It isn't a bracelet ,a hat or a book.
It won't come with a label, a tag or receipt.
It's not something to dance too ,or wear on your feet.
It isn't some item of clothing , the latest new trend ,
It won't come from a loved one , or a long distance friend,
The gift that I want, won't be under the tree
As no-one can give it , not even me.......
You all know what it is, as you want it too .......
Oh, I love, love Christmas and I will have a wonderful time with my dear loved ones, all together , under one roof . More so this year as it has been an emotional time for us all and you out there too. But as usual we keep our composure , be that jolly Mother Christmas ( well I know I will be once the Christmas spirit kicks in. plus I've got the white hair and beard this year ..haha )
So, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you O.C Ladies a Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful , Healthier Happier 2012 !!!!
Take care .
With love and kisses

Many thanks Suzieque. You echo my thoughts completely - right down to having the white hair this year. At least I have hair this Christmas - a definite improvement on last year.
I also love Christmas and enjoy wrapping too many presents - and sending out Christmas cards - real and virtual. This year seems very special. Last year we had most of our very large family here for a party as I said it may be 'my last Christmas'. This year we are really touched at the trouble that varios children have gone to so that we can spend time with their families. I am feeling really cossetted though it is strange not have the great cooking bonaza build up. Well, I have made a Christmas cake which I WILL ice and take with me on my progression round the family.
Have a super Christmas Suzieque and all the other O.C. ladies out there.
Thanks Suzieque, you are very clever. I'm the same as you Dad and I dont need anything, spend it on the children. We are lookingforward to a family Christmas (whatever my results on Wednesday are) I'm determined we will all have a great time. Have a Great Christmas Love Sue xxx
Thank you for your poem. I'm sure it rings true to us all.
I also didn't know whether I would be here this Christmas but here I am bald as a coot in the middle of second line chemo but still here.
Having scan today and results next week but ca 125 reducing well so signs are good. I intend to be here next Christmas as well and who knows how many more I could manage after that!!
hello to all you wonderful ladies out there, i would like to wish you all a very merry christmas and a healthy happy new year, i am sure you all will be withus next christmas, as i am 12 years on. lots of love going out to you. xxx
What a lovely verse! Yes we all wish for the same thing and with a lot of prayer and hope maybe one day it willl be so !!!
To all my friends out there wherever you are I wish you A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A FANTASTIC NEW YEAR!!! Lots of love and healing hugs always Lynn XXXXXXXXXXXX
I think your poem should be posted in big letters somewhere. It sums it up for each and everyone of us. I love christmas, but it is now so commercialised that when you haven't got the strength to walk round the shops and take in the atmosphere it gets to be hard work. I'm afraid I opted for vouchers this year for everyone, and as they are all away and we are not having a family christmas it seemed the best way out. I hope YOU all enjoy having your families round you, and I hope that next year I will still be here to have mine round me.
Hello everyone,Loved the poem Susieque, I had an early xmas present yesterday slipped and broke my arm can't believe it,,but i won't let it spoil xmas.I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year, Lots of Love Sue xxxxxxxxxxx
I am out of hospital (6 days) and in London with my wonderful daughter! We have my son's 2 boys with us for a few days. I am managing the stoma just fine! Not much appetite but on the plus side I have lost half a stone and they got the tumour. The op was, I am told "rather tricky" but I came through well. I have had a lot of nausea since I came down here and had to see my daughter's GP who has given me stematil (I foolishly refused the odansetron offered by the hospital) i now appear to be on the up.
Here's to a happy Christmas for us all and a tolerable 2012!
Great poem, it really is.... it is a wonderful time of year and does fill me a new lease of life. It is strange to think how much has changed over the year, how much I have changed.. just a matter of adapting to this new person :).
Wishing everyone here a wonderful Christmas and I pray your new year is one with good news and happiness for one and all!
