I have not heard of absent periods as being a symptom of ovarian cancer, but it is a symptom of something wrong and you should go to your GP for advice on this, twenty is very young to get OC but not unheard of, there is someone on this site that was diagnosed at the age of nineteen. I am not suggesting you have this.... but you are not over reacting by requesting an investigation so please do.
I agree with Gwen and you also need to request an ultra sound scan.
This may find out what the problem is, you may also need further laporoscopy surgery by key hole. This is a camera that has an intense look inside of you, this may also find out what the problem is.
It is not normal to not have periods at your age and this can be down to another problem called poli-cystic ovary syndrome, which has other symptoms such as bloating, weight gain, acne, facual hair.
My daughter was diagnosed with this, her periods also ceased.
In her teens she had the laporoscopy investigation, and it was inconclusive, there was no evidence that anything was wrong on her ultra sound scans either.
Some years later she had been trying for her first baby, she was only having periods about every 4 to 6 months. So she had more tests done and it turned out that she had a typical policystic ovary. Eventually she was put on a fertility drug called climad and she fell pregenant straight away. Her little girl is now 18 months old and Amy is 28. It took a long time to discover the problem.
Diet can also help the periods to return back to normal.
Abnormal weight, over weight or too skinny can sometimes stop periods.
My niece also had similar symptoms and her thryroid was over active, so it may not be Ovarian cancer. Try not to worry but do see your GP and get the ball rolling to find out what the problem is causing this.
Have you never had a period or are you due one and very late? I think you must definitely go and see your doctor, just so your mind can be put at rest. It may not be your worst fears at all. Xxxx
You don't make it clear if you ever have had periods, but I take it you have. It could be you have a thyroid problem, as that can upset periods and cause constipation. I am a retired GP who also has cancer. I do not think you have ovarian cancer. But your GP should look into your symptoms. There are many much more likely causes than ovarian cancer, I can reassure you. But do see your GP.
Sorry, meant to say that you should ask your GP if he/she would check your thyroid by a blood test. The GP may do several blood tests. Does anyone in your family have thyroid trouble, as it can run in families?
