Can anyone help me with this acid reflux since being on CAELYX chemo just had 3rd and the acid is awful didnt happen on Carb or Taxol ????

Hi Marjorie

Have you tried speaking to your GP. I had acid reflux probelms with Taxol and Caelyx - but I had a tendency that way beforehand. Mt GP gave me Omeprazole which did seem to help. And she had said that she could give me other things to protect the stomach if it became necessary. I do still have to be careful what i eat but it on the whole the Omerprazole seems to do the trick.

Hope you find thing to control it soon. It is very unpleasant.

Thanks Angela yes GP has given me Omeprazole has also given me some other which they say are £78 per 6 seem ok but how long will they give me them for ??? might mix & match and agree its horrible never suffered with anything like this before its usually my husband Love Marge xx

I too had reflux and pain - even before I had the chemo. My oncologist prescribed lansoprazole to be taken every morning and it seems to work. I have a small hiatus hernia courtesy my pregnancy with my 46 year old son, who was 24inches long at birth and kicked my stomach through my diaphragm.

I have developed steroid induced diabetes so I am very careful with my diet anyway.

Thanks Margaret dont have the pain just the horrible acid but check what I eat now at one time I could eat anything my husband was perscribed Lansoprazole and he said they were good Love Marge xx

Hi everyone,

I had reflux, before I was dignosed with O.C, that is what they thought I had for about 3 months, I went on to have a couple of x-rays which didnt show anything, so I contiuned to take Gaviscon [I forgot to mention that I had a cough which does come with reflux], anyways after those three months my doctor did lots of blood tests including a C125 and sure enough my C125 was over 10.000!!, the tumour was what was causing the reflux, I saw 6 doctors and all of them said it was reflux, they said it was an unusual symptom to have for O.C it just shows you how cruel O.C is, I just feel one of those doctors must have come across it at least once in their practice!!

Oh Sarah that was awful yes I wake up with a cough and then the reflux starts but my CA125 gets done everytime before chemo I,m sure if it was that high they would tell me I will mention it to my Onc when I next go Yes its very cruel Hope you are doing ok now and thanks for the info Love Marge xx
