I had my last chemo end of August. My hair, eyebrows and eyelashes are starting to grow back however, I am also getting unwanted hair on my upper lip and chin. I had just been through the menopause before diagnosis and surgery (Ovc Stage 4) and although I had a few random hairs it was nowhere near as bad as it is now. My GP has given me some cream (Vaniqa) to try and supress the growth whilst I save up for laser treatment. I also have very fine hair on my cheeks. I'm like a peach! Has anyone else had this problem?

I am one of the support line nurses at Ovacome and am sorry to hear about the hair growth you are experiencing. It is not an unusual occurence and we do have phone calls from time to time about this subject. It does in time seem to settle down and I have never managed to find a satisfactory answer to why it should happen after chemotherapy. Theories have included the steroids that you have with the chemotherapy to hormonal imbalance. If you would like to discuss this further do feel free to give our support line a ring on 02072996650 Mon- Fri 10-5. best wishes

Hi Chrisr, I finished my chemo in August too, and have had the peachy cheeks, although that seems to be getting less, and I didn't mind it too much.
I think I've had a few more dark hairs on my chin than I used to get and find that the little waxing strips they sell at Superdrug are useful to help with those. My menopause was surgical, in April, so I'm dealing with that as well as getting over the chemo, and it's difficult to know how much of the hair changes are hornomal and how much is due to regrowth after chemo.
Hi Pixie and Ruth
Thank you both for your replies. I am hoping things get better, but in the meantime I am using the Vaniqa cream, applying plenty of cover up make up and saving madly for laser treatment. I know it seems silly after all I've dealt with this year but my confidence is at rock bottom so a moustache is the last thing I can deal with.
Pixie, I hope you are not feeling too bad after all the chemo and I hope everything goes ok for you.
Take Care
