Hi Shaun
If you type bowel obstruction into the search box you will find that there have been discussions on this which might help you - I hope so. I had one but mine was due to post-surgical problems which is clearly not the case for your Mum. I hope the NG tube will do the trick.
Take care, Monique
ty,did take a look and its helpful, you get so much contradictory info and so much of it,still so much to take in,but cheers
Hi Shaun,
I had the ng tube while in hospital and it did help having contents in there instead of the mouth and eventually it was removed and now I am on the "white diet". Just try to keep positive in front of your mum which will help her to see that you coping even if she isn't as strong as she used to be.
My thoughts and prayers to you

Hi Shaun
I am so sorry that you are both having such a dreadful time.
I would suspect that bowel contents being fetched up is a sign of a blockage of some sort.Let's hope the tube helps a bit.
Perhaps you might like to consider asking to see the consultant in charge of your Mum's care tomorrow or Tuesday if you haven't yer met him or her. Write down all of the questions you have and try to have some support there for you both.
I do hope that you have personal support too , it's so easy to get totally snowed under emotionally.
Take care of yourself

Hi Shaun,
I don't want to scare you or take away your hope...there is always hope...when I was in having my operation there was a lady in there with OC and she was vomiting this up too..and it was the end stage for her..BUT I want to stress that everyone is different...and this might not be the case for your mum..I am merely trying to prepare you...Isn't there anyone at the hospital that you can speak to directly and honestly? so you at least will know where your mum is at with her prognosis...it is the not knowing that is driving you up the wall ..and I do feel for you...at the moment you are in a turmoil not knowing which way to turn...and it seems to me you want to know everything... so you can then deal with that knowledge...to be more informed will help you I am sure..love and best wishes x G x
I hope the NG tube helps your mum, as I know how horrid bowel blockages can be, and on top of everything else too. It does seem really unfair..... I do so hope and pray your mum becomes more comfortable soon.

thankyou, god help anyone who has to go through this especially at worcester or redditch hospitals, she seems to take a step forward then 3 backwards, its so hard to watch,x
This happened to my mother, who didn't have OC. It was assumed to be due to an adhesion, which resolved itself without treatment. It's not necessarily the end of the road. You need to ask her consultant these questions.
It can be very difficult to treat OC in its later stages. So much can happen at once. Please call the Ovacome help line tomorrow, they can give you more detailed advice.
My thoughts are with you.
hi

Shaun,
It is very difficult to know what the bowel blockage means in terms of 'end of life stages' or just another bump in the road. I've heard of many women with OC and bowel blockage and each case has had different outcomes. Many of the women I have known, improve greatly after installation of the NG tube which often allows things to settle down before going onto a special 'white' diet. Many have have recovered and achieved remission, sadly, others were not so lucky. I think it's important for you to talk with her Doctor to get frank answers from him. Once your Mom has a treatment plan in place, it will give both of you the hope to continue and something to hang on to. I wish you the very best.
Sandy (over 13 years ago was told to 'get my life in order'. I'm still here after 13 years in remission).
Shaun,
I have only just seen you beautiful anguished poem and commented on it. I've also sent you a personal message telling you that I've done so as I didn't want you to miss it. I then saw your latest blog, although it hasn't come up yet. I am so sorry that things have moved on and just want to say, again, that my thoughts are with you as you are going through this horrible time. Try and keep strong, for your Mom and your girls,
With much love and many hugs (((( )))), Solange
Hi Shaun this can happen at anytime I have just come out of hospital where I often go when this happens to me. Didn't need the tube but when I do I'm thank full for it. Most times although this period is not pleasant it will pass. Hang in there I've had the treatments and am doing ok so keep your chin up. Love and hugs to you both.

Hi Shaun. The blocked bowel could be a side effect of the ascites. I have been suffering ascites for over 3 months and I was advised that it could cause pressure on the bowel and even an obstruction. I really feel for you having to cope with your mother's illness and all the information available. Thinking of you.
