Has anyone else experienced thinning and peeling skin on their hands after chemo? Mine seems to be getting worse and I am using masses of neutrogena and dove handcream in addition to E45 and Bio-oil!

Looks like you've flummoxed people with this question, Margaret. One for a dermatologist, maybe?

For now I am just using snowfire and Dove pro age handcream! Just wondered if anyone else had had the same thing! Maybe it is just old age! LOL! So nice to be able to blame the cancer and resist being pigeon holed as'old hag with stick' , hence I am using my walking pole instead of a walking stick, can pretend my back problems are a 'walking injury' and nothing to do with age! LOL!
Keep shaking that stick, Margaret! On the skin front - I know that there was Body Shop hemp handcream and lip salve in a pack that was handed out at a 'look Good, Feel Better' day I was at once. I got some for my Mum when she was in hospital recently. She loved the way it moisturised her hands and legs and also the lip salve is really good. It's very pure and very moisturising, but I have no idea if it would help with thinning skin, Margaret. I hope so. If you haven't got a Body Shop near you, they do mail order. I used bio oil after my op on my scar, which is very ridged and messy, and it made me itchy and when I used it on my face, my eyes puffed up, so it may not be as pure as it says on the tin! Or it may be me ......

Hi Margaret,
The hospice care nurse prescribed some Doublebase Gel for me. I've got extremly dry and peeling skin on my feet and legs. It's very thick and 'gloopy' so I don't know what it would be like as a handcream perhaps you could try it just at night. My hands do feel better after using it and thats just using it to apply to feet and legs.
Perhaps you could ask your doctor or nurse to prescribe it.

Hi. I've been using Aveeno and Udderley Smooth with urea. Both off the Internet but they have done wonders for my hands and feet. Not too expensive. I've used them all the time since starting this round of chemo - a few days of one then change to the other.
Hope this helps

Thanks Hetty! And everyone! Some great suggestions & a relief to find that I am not alone in experiencing this phenomenon! Weird and wonderful are the side effects of chemo!
