Recovery Time

Had operation last Wednesday and had both ovaries removed & tubes samples taken from womb and omentum. Have 4 small cuts and a lot of bruising and do not know the histology as yet. Can I please have opinions on recovery time for driving and lifting again. Thanks

Hi Wendy,

I would plan to allow yourself 6 weeks recovery. Don't take any chances, and if any doubt err on the side of giving yourself longer.

Hi Wendy

I was told not to lift anything heavier than a kettle for a few weeks, but I had the full monty (OP) It may be a good idea to get in touch with the specialist nurse in the gynae dept at your hospital. They are very helpful usually. You must take care of yourself

I had full debulking in Jan 2010 with full diaphagm to pubis cut. Despite post op abscesses I was well again in 6 weeks. I had a repeat visit for removal of another tumour and consequent colostomy at the beginning of December 2011 and I was fit again by the end of January though it will be another few months before the colostomy can finally be said to have settled. I hope this helps! If you get any pain make a fuss and take painkillers!
