has anyone done laparoscopic for removing tumor partly in the pancreas tail and stomach?

I was told that I needed a surgery instead of laparoscopic because of the sensitive location of my 3.1 cm tumor. It’s actually in my pancreas tail and part of my stomach from a non-invasive surgery, It will be a major surgery, which will be is 5 to 7. They stay in the hospital.

Hallo Marmay, I had ovarian cancer which had spread into my stomach at diagnosis (4B BRCA2). I had NHS keyhole surgery, an 8-10 hour operation, and had complete hysterectomy, half stomach removed, appendix out and so much else I can't recall .Had 5 x 1cm cuts on my tummy. No pain ever after op. Had 5 days in intensive care (but probably the brightest patient in there) and five days in general ward. Did feel really exhausted for 6 weeks (stayed in nightie as getting dressed was too much energy required) but was sitting up out the bed. Had to eat pureed food and then small lumpy food for about 6 weeks, just like weaning a baby. Pretty soon I could eat anything and do now! Surgery was miraculous. Done not at my chemo hospital (UCLH) who could not offer keyhole at the time. My gynae surgeon was Dr Simon Butler Manuel and my gastric surgeon was Dr Abassi, both working together on the op. Both at Royal Surrey Hospital at Guildford. They deserve a medal and my eternal thanks. Have been NED for last 2 and a half years. Take heart! Emma xx

Thank you so much Emma for responding to my post. It meant a lot to me, knowing your experience with a surgery and after. I was truly hoping a laparoscopic rather than surgery. Both my surgeons from Sloan said it was in a delicate spot and needed a surgery. Sending you, love, prayers and well wishes.

Ask for a second opinion from Dr Butler and Dr Abassi. Not sure where Sloan is i.e. in UK?

There are surgeons who are skilled in robotic surgery. The surgeon at the top London Hospital, UCLH, said she could not do it robotically. Try hunting around for a surgeon who can. And make sure you have a gastro surgeon involved, not just a gynae surgeon. Love, prayers and well wishes to you, Emma xx
