Hello everyone. I have a tumor we need to get rid of either surgery or radiation. It is on or in I don't know which a node in a hard to reach place. Have a consult next week w surgeon and radiologist. Am treated at Curie in paris where of course radiation was invented.this does not mean necessarily they have the latest. Have been reading up on cyberknife radiation but don't know if it's appropriate for this tumor. Curie doesn't have it but 2 other hospitals here do.
What I would really like is surgery to remove the node Stream then biopsy then work on a vaccine.
Any thoughts guys big hugs from paris.

Hi,Great that you have found this forum to ask your question.
I have had both but that was over a period of eight or nine years and the OC was in my groin and affecting my lymph nodes.
Both treatments were designed for maintenance not for eradication which is your aim so I don't know if I can advise you but I wish you well.
My radiation did not hurt and only took place over five days whereas surgery is a longer process taking recovery into consideration. But maybe you will have to have both treatments eventually, who knows!
Which radiation classic or cyber knife? Meanwhile you are still here so that's encouraging. My tumor is also in the iliac left groin area and my main interest in surgery is to do a new biopsy so we can work on a vaccine. I'm at the end of my 6th year stage 3c and still healthy except for cancer. Thanks for responding hugs from paris
Hi again,My cancer is in the inguinal nodes and I had a modern version of the traditional radiation tube (?) I'm not aware of the knife but didn't research it either.
I was diagnosed in 2011 and like you, I am living with my cancer which is now stage 4c.
My oncologist has never mentioned a vaccine to deal with my cancer so I am obviously ignorant. How is this administered?
I recently had embolisation which is designed to cut off the blood supply to the tumours. It is not a common procedure but my oncologist is a professor in the research field so is experimental.
Take care of yourself and I hope you get a biopsy. Gx
Ok re the vaccine...they use fresh cells and run a genome screen then they build a vaccine from the genetic structure of your cells it is experimental but there are trials. The German Turkish couple who developed Moderna and pfeizer's rmna covid vaccine were working on cancer vaccines before covid took precedence. Am trying to talk inst curie into it. Hugs from paris
I have a feeling the vaccine maybe the mDNR vaccine which is undergoing trials ATM. Don’t take my word for it this vaccine is something I read about in the Mail on Sunday. Love Angela x
WHAT'S TAKING THEM SO LONG? (KIDDING) I WISH THY WOULD COME UP WITH SOMETHING. IF THERE ARE ALREADY TRIALS, IS THAT THE SAME ONE THIS COUPLE WERE WORKING ON BEFORE THE VIRUS?
I think their feet dragging on trials for OC amounts to medical malpractice. Here in france they still rely on 50 year old chemo unless you are brca positive...it makes me nuts. Never mind. Onward. Hugs from paris
Hi I just caught this thread and an interested in this vaccine thing. In in Canada, is this done only in Europe? Specially the UK, if that's where you are? My mom may have a secondary surgery. She has enlarged lymph nodes as well on the groin and rear pelvic area. I wish they could use her live cells as you say, and create a vaccine. What would the vaccine then do?
I had some inflamed inguinal and para inguinal lymph nodes. They did a biopsy that was not very conclusive. I was hoping that they would remove the nodes, but I was also told that they were very small and hard to find. Do they believe it would be easier to target the area with radiation?(They put me back on chemo).
Hi, in response to your post I thought I would warn you that they did remove some of my inguinal nodes but as you have been warned, they missed some so the tumour grew again. Chemo mops up cancer cells and in my opinion more desirable than surgery.Your team will advise you but I wish you every success in whatever they choose. Good luck ! Gina x
Yeah I wd only do surgery to remove the whole string otherwise it has to be chemo. Altho already 6 lines 75 infusions over 100 booster shots etc. But will do what I need to do. Thx for all your input
I have heard of women having cyberknife for isolated metastises but i guess it depends on whether a radiologist feels it is suitable and whether surgery might be the more appropriate option to try first.I know it’s upsetting to have a recurrence but at least it is just one lesion . Hopefully they can successfully remove it by either means. The vaccine sounds interesting . Would you have the name of the vaccine trial as i’m sure there would be lots of interest in it.
We decided on radiation.i really liked the radiologist surgery deemed too risky for the Moment so I'll have to go back on the line. I have had wee tumors more or less constantly except for 1 year NED and we keep knocking them out. Hugs from paris
