Ascites coming back,primary peritoneal

Hi everyone. I was hoping I could ask for some information. For a bit of background, I am supporting my Mum (76) who was diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer almost two years ago after ascites discovered and drain needed. Initially thought was stage 3c and as it had affected a lymph node it was then upgraded to stage 4. She was treated with Paclitaxel and carboplatin, her CA125 dropped from over 800 to 16 and her tumours reduced to point of being barely visible. She was given Avastin as maintenance. About 9 months post treatment the CA markers started to rise and the cancer became active again, she was in good health generally and finished her 6 sessions with the same chemo in January this year. Her oncologist was happy , CA125 dropped to 35 and tumours shrunk hugely again.

She was placed on Naraparib in February but unfortunately had an infection which meant she had to stop after 2 weeks, with the plan being to start again this week. We noticed her stomach started to swell and she has been told today that the ascites is back, her CA markers are slightly elevated at 45. She was told this is common, particularly when not had any treatment for a couple of months, but they weren't particularly worried . Plan is to drain again (hasn't needed this for around 2 years) and hope the Niraparib does the job to hold back.

Sorry for long post, I suppose I am asking if people have had similar experience with the ascites coming back despite low CA markers and the planned approach for Mum.

Many Thanks
