Hello, I was hoping for a little advice . I am 42 and I starting visiting the GP in August as i was feeling v tired (I have 4 young children which may explain things) . I had bloods done and came back anaemic (bloods were 8). My periods are extremely heavy and really wipe me out . My GP wanted to investigate things a little more as I have lots of dragging pains, weight loss, backache, urinating A LOT more. This maybe also very strange but I have pains through my right arm all the time (may be nothing but thought I'd add this).
I have since got my iron levels back up and went for a scan in September where they found a fluid filled ovarian cyst which was 5cm. The sonography said he was pretty sure it would go. Went back 10 weeks later and it's still there and a little bigger . I was put on a quick pathway to nhs Gynaecology but didn't hear so I went private as my husband has healthcare .
The consultant wants to fit a mirena and take out the cyst which is in 3 weeks time. He also ordered bloods , my CA125 came back yesterday at 42 (also still anaemic 🙈). His secretary said he isn't overly worried about the levels .
I just feel a little lost and nervous about things really . Should I be concerned with this CA 125 level ? I feel a little lost . Thank you for any advice .

Hello Katon. Uncertainty is so hard to cope with isn’t it.
The Ca125 level can be raised for several reasons such as inflammation and where a woman is in her menstrual cycle. As your surgeon is unconcerned try to let that worry go.
Not too much longer until your surgery. Cyst tissue will be sent for examination to check for cancer as a precaution I imagine which will hopefully give you peace of mind.
Thank you so much Lisa, yes trying to push it to the back of mind - which is hard . Not sure whether the surgeon didn't want me to worry as everything is being done soon anyway or not too worry as he really isn't concerned . Hard to interpret sometimes . I think my feeling as more heightening as two close family members have been diagnosed with breast cancer . Plus I just have a strange feeling about it all - can't explain why exactly but I feel something isn't right (if that makes sense)
Thank you. I've just read on my scan report it's an Endometrioma. However I don't have Endometriomas and just read that you get chocolate cysts with stage 3/4 endo. The plot thickens !!
The surgeon said he was going to biopsy the cyst too which is good x
