Bladder Prolapse post hysterectomy

I had full hysterectomy and debulking surgery in December’22 I have now developed a bladder prolapse recently. I am considering having a ring pessary inserted. Has anyone any experience of this? Will I be able to feel it? Will it affect my bowel movements? How long can it stay in place? I have been doing a bit of reading on the subject but have found conflicting information. Many thanks.

Hi wirralian,I have used a pessary ring now for many years.Removed it for a year whilst recovering from surgery then chemo (2019) but so glad to be refitted. Prolapse inhibits everything & the ring gave me my life back! Had a few problems with occasional bleeding with first fitting but 2 sizes larger has sorted that! The correct size is a little trial & error to start but with the right fit you will forget you’re wearing one! Sex also is no problem but constipation is not good as if not careful it will push the pessary down or bung you up so drinking lots of water is a must (& fruit) Apparently if you go for prolapse op. Instead it is I’m told very painful & not very successful after a hysterectomy so the pessary ring is a win win 🤗 ooo & changed every 6mths by nurse @ doctors( 2 minutes & not painful) Best wishes Dee x
