My mom have 3rd recurrance she start again carboplatin and palitaxel but after 2nd influsion there was terrible reaction and they stoped it and cleaned out, 3rd chemo after 3 weeks she has palitaxel alone. Is her ca125 going down ok or it is not enoght? Before 1st chemo it was 428 —) after 1st chemo it was 377, after second chemo 266—) after 3rd 233, what does it mean that chemo is stoping to help?

It’s good the ca 125 is going down.

How is your mum feeling in herself?

Perhaps it may be time to get a second opinion? Possibly clinical trials? Is your mum being treated at a specialist cancer hospital?

Hi

It is very good that your Mum’s ca 125 is going down. Response to chemo is individual. It is very upsetting when you build yourself up for a treatment and it has to be changed. Has your Mum discussed her concerns with her clinical team? Can she seek a second opinion? Is she receiving any other support such as well-being support or counselling? She is very lucky to have you asking for advice, but remember to also look after yourself.

Hi, I had a reaction to carboplatin and can no longer have it. I was swapped to cisplatin. It would be worth asking yr mums oncologist what their plan is. Good luck to yr mum xx

I had Carbo Taxol in 2008 for six rounds. My recent reoccurrence we tried Carbo/ Gemzar. I had a hive after the first Carbo treatment, so they stopped it immediately. They said any reaction can be dangerous. So they switched me to just Gemzar and Avastin, and that has helped keep my numbers down. I hope the Paxil works for her. If not, there are many other alternatives that her oncologist could try. Good luck.
