Haven’t heard of an infrared sauna but we have far infrared heating panels in our house . 2 x 700w panels on the lounge ceiling and some lower wattage ones around the house for background heating. They are great.

The near infrared sauna was one of the first things we bought after my diagnosis in 2018. We researched the benefits of hyperthermia in cancer and found that heat shock proteins are released that can destroy cancer cell membranes. Incidentally, heat shock proteins mimic exercise in benefits such as increased blood flow which helps prevent the “stickyness” in cancer cells, helping to prevent coagulation of cells in tumor formation. Other benefits are increase in positive mood, sweating out toxins after treatment which helps in reducing side effects, and lower blood pressure. I stay in for 20 minutes after I start sweating, then take a tepid shower to rinse off the toxins. I read or do sudoku while in there. Mine is a 2 person with a built in CD and radio for relaxing music.

Brilliant! Thank you, yes I'm going to book some sessions and if I find it beneficial and enjoy it I'll get one myself. I already do hyperbaric oxygen therapy and from what I've read this will compliment that treatment. 😊

Hi, so happy to read your comments on the infra red sauna. How often do you use it?

Newbery3 profile image

Well I'm just going to go once a week and see, the lady that told me about it had breast cancer and she goes twice a week and swears by it. I already do oxygen therapy twice a week so it's weighing up the funds x

Generally 3 times a week. In the hot summer, less, as I sweat while outdoors exercising.

Please be careful about thrombotic complications, which are common among us. Use infrared sauna only, when You are sure You'll be safe (eg. D-dimer normal level)

Hi Nordic5,

Thank you for your comment. We would always recommend discussing this with your clinical team before commencing sauna use.

This article has been reviewed by a medical clinician and although it doesn't mention the use of infrared saunas and thrombotic complications specifically, it does discuss cardiovascular risks: healthline.com/health/infra...

It is really important to get individual advice from your own medical team before undertaking  exercise or therapy activities including sauna use.

Best wishes,

Alice - Ovacome Support

Hello,

I own a near infared sauna which I had bought before my OC diagnosis to help with my arthritis I assembled it in my basement at that time I bought it I believe it was $2100 US I too read articles on the benefits for cancer I use mine 3 times a week for 40 minutes ideally I would like to get it to 150 degrees at present I'm at 145. I'm 18 months NED I really do enjoy it. You have to take a shower when you get out to wash off the toxins.

I think it's definitely worth a try if it helps with joint and muscle pain too. Even if its just the side effects of parps, well I'm in the UK and I've seen a local place that's charging £15 an hour so I'll see how it goes then look into buying one 😊thank you xx

I have not heard about it before. I also see reference to oxygen therapy in the comments. Can someone share any recommended links for additional study (do not want to depend on google) and I will check availability in India.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?thewellnesslab.com

You may have heard the term, but are you still unsure of what Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is? Hyperbaric Oxygen is a painless, non-invasive, systemic and specialised method of effectively enhancing the body’s natural healing ability. HBO was discovered in the UK in 1805, it has become popular for wider usage in recent times mainly in the USA and UK.

We use only hard chambers capable of double atmospheric pressure which are manufactured in Europe with CE certification. Our staff are trained and experienced in hyperbaric oxygen and will adjust according to the individual’s needs.

HBO is a method of delivering close to 100% oxygen at a higher pressure which increases cellular and tissue oxygenation concentration. This up-regulates genes, stem cells, immune cells, energy, metabolism, detoxification and repair mechanisms.
