Ready for another day of battling to get to see an oncologist. I started my medical journey 1 March and despite extensive investigations and visits have yet to reach the holy grail of an oncologist.
Does anyone with HGOC in the North East have any tips on how to get to the medical oncologist in the Freeman or elsewhere? I am prepared to travel whilst well enough.
Does anyone currently being treated there have a name of a consultant whose secretary I could phone?
Feeling hopeful,
Frances

Good morning, I'm down south but a lot of ladies have mentioned the Christie up by Manchester and a Dr Jayson who has lots of experience and a team of oncologists. It took me 10 weeks in Wales to get to the start of my treatment last year and I now think I should have taken control more myself! You get onto them and good luck x
I am sorry to hear that you are, struggling to see an oncologist. I would suggest calling the Ovacome Support Team on 0800 008 7054 or 07503 682 311 as you may get the informaton you need. Wishing you all the best. Take care! Samixa x
I am under Dr Li at james cook in Middlesbrough she is lovely and has been very receptive to my second opinion and treatment in London. There is another consultant called mr Mansey there too and he take’s private patients which might be a way in.
Good luck its not all bad here, i am near whitby just for info.
Thanks I have an evening phone call with the Freeman oncologist on Tuesday but going ahead with the Christie consult too. Good to hear you combined the two nicely.
Sorry, I don't have answers because I live in Spain. Just wanted to ask why you haven't been allocated an oncologist? Is there a shortage or is it normal protocol?
So unfortunate about the shortage, I didn't realise things were like that.Good on you for learning Spanish, such a lovely language which I destroy on a daily basis.
I did a bit of Duo lingo before coming but mainly learned here because I live in a village near Granada where hardly anyone speaks English.
The healthcare since diagnosis has been wonderful here. But it does lack some of the services people talk about receiving in UK eg specialist nurse, macmillan nurses, Christies.
