Hi crazy1010, Give your body the chance to heal, it doesn't happen over night. Be kind to yourself, plenty of rest and sleep, little bit of walking, I walked with a zimmer frame for a while now 2 years on I'm doing ok albeit not as fit as I use to be but everyone is different. But I'm glad to still be here,my new normal. You've had a major operation so take it one day at a time. Sending you a gentle hugs 🤗 ♥
It’s a shock, you have had major surgery and recovery takes time.
Try to enjoy this enforced leisure time… rewatch box sets, read books and mags, toddle about as much as you can.
Washing my hair was really important, I remember, to help me feel normal.
Have fun! You will soon be on the mend xx
You will feel better, it just takes time. Baby steps and you will see improvement x
Cazy, you mentioned before that you’ve very recently lost your husband. The grief you’re trying to come to terms with, the shock of your diagnosis and the big operation you’ve had, will all have laid your usual reserves of energy and resilience, really low.
I know it’s boring and difficult, but try to give it more time. Maybe give your CNS a ring, just to reassure yourself that you’re within the normal time frame?
It really is baby steps for you…..keep posting, keep ‘talking’ to us, it’s all going to help your healing process. You will heal, in many ways, and you’ll get to a new normal but you’re coping with a lot.
Be gentle with yourself
Love Wendy xx
one learns the meaning of being a “patient” . The body has miraculous powers of healing but it does take time. I did not have the energy to get dressed for 6 weeks but now walk an hour every day. You will get back to fitness. X
Hi Cazy,
I know it's a bit of a shock feeling so incapacitated but a couple of years on I have to try hard to remember the aftermath of my two major surgeries because it's such a temporary phase in the scheme of things.
The body is amazing how it heals from such trauma and you will be living a normal life soon enough but really give yourself time. Don't rush things and, one of the hardest things for me, let others help you!! You need their help and it makes them feel better too.
Wishing you a speedy recovery,
Martine xxx
Hey you! Be kind to yourself, and patient with bring a patient 😉♥️
Healing will happen, you need to rest, relax, and let it happen… honestly it will get better. Walk slowly around the house , don’t worry about getting dressed for about a week, maybe two, depending on how you feel. I swapped Pyjamas for a long jersey skirt or joggers, and top, felt comfy and loose but made me less “poorly” wearing them! After about 4/5 days, I stood at the kitchen sink and washed one mag, one plate, one bowl. Then sat down again. I increased this every few days- but not if I felt uncomfortable, if I did, I just sat down again. I took a nap every afternoon, in my bed, away from tv etc, to really rest, for one to two hours. I made a nest on a sofa with loads of cushions to support me, and sat watching films, or playing the game on my phone! Don’t forget to do breathing exercises when sat up, and keep rotating your feet and ankles when sat/lying down
These are just some ideas. I’m 6 weeks post op this Thursday, and I still tire very quickly, but I can do a lot more now because I rested so much too.
This too will pass! Remember that. Take care xx
It does get better I think we tend to not realize all the stuff they move around during the debulking. Did they give you a binder to wear? I got one off of Amazon it helped tremendously remind yourself that you had a major surgery this too will pass. Take Care
