I've developed a lump on the left side of my back on my ribs, under the skin, which is exactly the same place I had 2 chest drains put in when I developed a pleural effusion last year. I only discovered it recently but the more I think about it I have been experiencing some discomfort in that area for some time. I mentioned it to my Onc who had a quick feel and said "it looks and feels like a haematoma as I can see the mark where the drain was put in right in the middle of the lump". I had a scan done last week as I was due one anyway and she said they would see what the report said. Has anyone else has a haematoma after a chest drain. I accidentally laid on my side last night and when I woke up and turned over I had an awful shooting pain right into my left ribs. Thanks Kerry

Not come across this before but my resp nurse would I am sure have had an answer. Might be worth getting an opinion from someone in Respiratory medicine if you haven’t already? xx
Had a phone call this morning with the results of the CT scan. Good news is the lump doesn't look nasty, so probably a haematoma. Bad news is my disease has progressed so I'm off the Aliftus Trial. They're looking to see if there are any other treatments available for me but I've exhausted most options so watch this space.
