mum has been NED since July. Today she has started with a stitch like feeling in her mid/upper abdomen. Any advice of what this could be that isnt a recurrence 😭 she is otherwise fine and is working full time, excercising etc.

pain in right side (feels like stitch)
Hi there,
Has your mum had debulking surgery as part of her treatment? If so those aches and pains honestly go on for years afterwards and it could be scar tissue settling down? Also we can develop gastric issues, trapped wind etc as our bodies have changed so much. For peace of mind I would ask her to reach out to her team and ask for a CA125 blood test, always scary waiting for those results but hopefully it’ll be nothing to worry about.

I had a debulking surgery end of March 22 and recently started to feel some niggles where my staples were. It could be after exercising, or after sitting for a while or when my pet puts her paws on my tummy or after eating. I find it difficult to explaining I feel. I ran it by my oncologist and he said not to worry. I do my ca125 test every 2 months. So it is likely to just be some niggles from the surgery but you can mention it in your next visit to the doc
I had my debunking surgery last March & still get pains and niggles from time to time. Most recently I had stitch like pains in my side & immediately my brain starts working overtime. I had a scheduled telephone consult this morning with my Onc & she reassured me with the following advice - if the pain last for more than a couple of weeks, is persistent or gets worse over time I should get in touch.
You mention your mum is active & exercising, so fingers crossed it is just a pulled muscle. Xx
Funnily enough she went swimming yesterday and the pain disappeared. All these niggles are so worrying. She had back pain at one point too and we put that down to Zejula and it disappeared a few weeks later. She has had an achey shoulder too for a few weeks but it's very intermittent and could also be attributed to the PARP. It's a minefield and it's hard to establish a 'new normal' in your body post surgery i'm sure. Thanks so much for replying and I'm hoping you are feeling reassured today too xx
I had debulking and a hernia repair after my 6 carbo/taxol's which I finished in October 2021 currently NED I exercise on most days and get the odd pains in my abdomen I feared a recurrence and insisted on a CT scan all clear I do find when I do abdominal crunches it tends to set if off which makes sense. I think we tend to forget how extensive the surgery was. I've also experienced gastric issues, take a couple stool softeners nightly to make sure everything moves like it should.
I had all sorts of aches and pains following surgery, but they settled down eventually - probably scar tissue forming. My oncologist told me that any new symptom that persisted for two weeks should be checked out, otherwise not to worry. Sending hugs!
thank you for replying ☺️ That’s good advice from your oncologist and I will try to follow it x
