Hello wonderful Ladies out there

Can anyone tell me how they tolerated the Modified Rotterdam Regimen please?

Ive been offered it as last chance saloon...but Professor Jayson was very honest and said it is very harsh. Im at the stage where quality of days is now worth more than quantity of days so I really think that I may call it a day...I am sick of feeling sick although I love my life.

I know everyone is different in their response to any treatment Regimen but am hoping for some real life feedback from my Teal sisters.

Thankyou so much.

Hi there, I don’t know about this either. Unless we get lucky many of us are eventually going to find ourselves in your position , so on this beautiful day here , I just wanted to wish you the best in making your decision. And in the end only you can decide . Meanwhile I hope you get some help on here . Maybe Ovacome would be able to help once they get back to normal. If normal ever returns!!!!!

Thinking of you

I honestly don't know anything about this treatment but in my mind ld give it a chance these treatments are expensive, so lm sure the Proffesor wouldn't suggest it if he didnt think it had a chance of working . But again l understand you want quality of life and not feeling unwell all the time. Why don't you give it a try and stop if you feel too horrid. Its his job to warn you please god it might just work. Sending so much love & hugs. SheilaFxxx

Morning,

Prof Jayson is being perfectly honest when he says the Rotterdam Regime is harsh.

I went onto it a few years ago and couldn’t function at all. After about three treatments had to be taken off it. Took me a while to fully recover.

But everyone is different and I’m sure there’s ladies out there who coped really well.

All you can do is give and go and see if it works for you.

Good luck.

hi Supergran! My sister’s oncologist has also mentioned the Rotterdam Regime to her, as her next option after weekly taxol (which she’s been on since last Christmas). Would you mind me asking what treatment(s) you were given after you were taken off the Rotterdam Regime a few years ago? Thanks so much and sending best wishes, Caroline

Morning SisterSupport

To be honest cannot remember what my next treatment was, my head wasn’t in the best place after having The Rotterdam Regime.

Ended up in hospital for a week as I couldn’t function and my weight dropped, but perhaps I reacted badly to the treatment.

I had a good response to Taxol with a two break off treatment but unfortunately ended up on more chemotherapy.

Over the nine years since being diagnosed with OC I’ve lost track of all the treatments, sorry.

Please send your sister all my good luck wishes for the future.

thanks Supergran for responding and best of luck with everything

Have you run a search for "rotterdam regime" on here? There are quite a few threads from the past which will be useful.

I know that The Christie is one of the few UK hospitals to offer it and it does have a reputation for being tough.

My impression over the years of reading about it is that it does work for some people - they couldn't offer it to us if it didn't - and there is some variability in how the side effects are experienced.

Not sure why it's called "modified" - was that explained to you?

Cisplatin infusion usually involves an overnight stay in hospital, not sure if that's still the case.

I'm so very sorry that you are in this terrible situation. I can't comment on The Rotterdam Regime. I don't think my consultant at the Marsden offers this regime. Only you can make this decision and I hope that you are able to find peace in whatever decision you take. All my love,

sorry to hear about your situation, I don't know anything about the rotterdam regime but I do know that personally I would take quality over quantity any day. Hope you choose the right decision for your self. Sending you 🤗 ♥ Xxxx.

Hi there,

I don't have any experience of this regime, but do understand your dilemma.

I just typed in on Google new Rotterdam regime for ovarian cancer, and there is an article that comes up from Macmillan. It is 2014 but a good write up.

I wish you all the luck in the world,as this must be so worrying for you.x

it is your choice to make. At some point we will all have to make decisions about quality of life vs continuing the struggle. Whatever you decide we are with you all the way. Love from paris

Hi Lovely, Definitely worth the fatigue if it works. Unfortunately finished the Cisplatin hard part but lymph’s caused a problem with my liver so the Etoposide has stopped. Steroids controlled the side effects. It’s a long day at the Christie each week but well spent if it’s effective. Good luck xx
