Rotterdam Regimen- any information please

Hello all.

I have just started on the Rotterdam Regimen as my second line treatment. I was having Avastin and had 9 treatments but now my CA125 has increased to 2900 after being below 30. I finished my first chemo in August 2018 after being diagnosed Stage 4 in January 2018 and have had TAH.

Is there anything I should be aware of on this treatment? I know it can be challenging and can have an effect on kidneys.

Thanks for any support and advice.

Xx

Hi - if you look at my profile you will see several entries on my Rotterdam experience which I did in July/August last year. It is tough but no worse than some others. They will give you plenty saline at infusion to protect kidneys and monitor their function. I needed to sleep a lot on this treatment but was fine on the 'steroid' days. Good anti-sickness pills essential and I was well covered with Emend and Ondansetron. I did not feel sick but went a bit picky and food faddy. Good luck with it. x

Thanks so much. It does seem more challenging than my first line treatment as I’m quite achy but don’t want to start codeine/ morphine based based relief as I’ll feel constipated.

You have inspired me with this and I’ll hope to be able to manage better soon.

Thanks so much.

If you search Rotterdam on here it comes up quite a few times. About five years ago there was a flurry of ladies having this. My impression is that it’s tough but douable. Harpist comes up in that search with some great info

Good luck do post as you go with the treatment. Right behind you

Thanks Lily-Anne. I have seen you on other forums and you are one amazing inspiration so thanks for replying.

I’m achy but not too keen on pain relief as it constipates me. I’ll keep trying to eat a balanced diet.

I only had my first treatment on Tuesday so I’m hoping it’s effective.

I took movicol on the first day of chemo and then for three days as was always constipated on treatment. I didn’t have any appetite so food choice wasn’t an option for me. However fresh coffee and ice cold water helped

Thanks for the advice. I don’t really have an appetite either on chemo but will start taking Movicil along with sodium docusate.

Hope you’re feeling as well as you can. Xx
