ovarian cancer alert-I need your help
Hello, yes I am on Olaparib, done more than a year on max dose but ça125 has crept up over time. While it was creeping up I had a clear scan…I have no symptoms.
Don’t know what’s going on really, mine was 35 last bt…we will see what happens next. I suspect that the Parp is holding the cancer back but not entirely.
Here’s hoping that it isn’t what we fear it might be! xx
thanks for your reply-wish you the best!are you Brca positive?because I am-what does your doctor say to you?and how fast your ca125 has started to rise?before 35 that you told me it was last time what was it the time before?
I am BRCA I + and it’s gone from 17 last year up to 20 then held at 20 before three increases of 5 points in 3 months May June July.
I did have a covid jab and other things happened in that period but I am concerned….xx
I am so lucky in that the Marsden never tells me my CA125! I guess they will when they are worried. I am on Olaparib too.
you are lucky indeed!!It can only cause excessive stress and nothing else…may I ask how log have you been on olaparib?
I agree entirely with what you said about the stress. I am stage 4 BRCA 2 and have been on Olaparib since January. Ok on it except it gives me legs like timber which makes walking a struggle and I have to walk for an hour everyday because I have a congenital muscle condition and if I don't walk I seize up all over. The Olap is making me disabled and affecting my quality of life but I guess it is worth it! Emma x
So many things can affect the CA125 reading. My onco told me anything up to 35 is normal even in someone without cancer??? I've not researched that because I choose to believe it. Let's face it, we will always be anxious about recurrances but pat yourself on the back for getting this far & I'm sure you've still got a long way to go. Keep up the good fight fellow Warrior Woman. 👍💜👭
Absolutely up to 35 is normal for women without cancer. No need to research it as that is absolutely fact. Hopefully I have reassured you.
for braca patients olaparib works well for non braca not as well. I am non braca and my CA was at 8 two months later 16 ............pet scan showed cancer was back! So if you have a significant jump of 10 or more doesn't mean just because you are under 35 that the cancer is not active just be vigilant.
