Have been having symptoms of bloating, needing the toilet more and constipation, for a bout 2-3 months. Had scan and showed enlarged ovaries so had ca125 and that came back at 68. Being urgently referred to gynaey team. I am pretty scared tho. I’m 45 have had fibroids for many years and had many scans over the years but ovaries not shown like this before. Any advice would be extremely greatful

It looks like your team is now paying attention and you are now on the road to proper diagnosis.
I hate to be negative, but your symptoms and raised CA-125, do point to Ovarian Cancer. If so, you will be swept into treatment quickly and hopefully you will respond quickly and your cancer will be destroyed.
Treatment is not always too difficult for everyone, especially if you are relatively healthy now. But either way, time passes quickly, and getting better is your goal.
Bring a close relative or friend with you to your appointments and read up on everything you can so you will be prepared with the right questions.
Thank you for your reply. Yeah I did have a bad feeling about it all, but I am still tryin to be positive, no that’s a lie, my friends and family are tryin to make me be positive. Haha. Thank you. It’s nice to get some feedback xx
Your scenario is similar to that of my wife, Suzanne in 2013. They thought it was ovarian cysts (non-malignant) until they operated, then found she had stage 3 ovarian cancer.
Things have moved on in the last 5 years. Suggest you ask the gynae team about IP chemo rather than intraveneous chemo - this is where (if they find cancer) they bathe your peritoneum with warm chemo fluids during the op. Also see the article in the Ovacome magazine for Spring 2018 about the new Plasma Jet they are using at the Royal Marsden.
But hey, you may just have non-malignant cysts. Good luck!
Try and breathe sweetie I know how anxious you will be feeling!
Sounds like you’re on the right path now to get a diagnosis and ultimately the right treatment for whatever it may be x
Please please make sure you are being referred to a gynae oncologist and not just a gynae consultant! This will give you the best chance of a proper diagnosis and access to the best treatments should you need them x better to be safe than sorry and start off with the cream of the crop and be referred back down to general gynae than have to wait for further referrals if it’s needed x
You’ve found a very knowledgable and supportive forum here x
Hi hun i can totally understand how you are feeling as that was me in february this year. I tried to be positive but i was a wreck. Once i was diagnosed i felt relieved and ready to fight the battle ; i saw my gynae oncologist who gave me hope. i valued life differently and had the support of a fantastic family and friends.
I truely hope it is good news but if it isnt take all the help you can get as there is a lot out there.
It will be hun let me know how you are. i have my 3rd round of chemo tommorrow then ct scan to see if the chemo is working im getting anxiuos now but enjoying every day with my family and friends oh and my wonderful animals
Hello everyone. Had my gynaey appointment today. Consultant didn’t seem concerned with enlarged ovaries, raised ca125 or that I have every symptom. 🤷♀️ Said he is very confident it’s nothing gynaecological, but has requested I have a CT scan of abdomen, he did a like a scrape thing today too, not a smear, it was further in that that, and a thin long clear tube , and also requested repeat bloods and some extra bloods . He is seeing me again in a month and told me to not be worried. I wish I could say I feel relived, but I don’t, because I still have all these symptoms. So if it isn’t that then what the bloody hell is it 😔😔xx
