I'm taking 100mg Niraparib, started February with a couple of stop, starts re platelets. Was on 200mg at the start but had constant headaches so dosage was lowered. Had a break to the sun in April and all was fine. Now having another break in the sun with a slightly more intense heat. I'm staying out of it but constantly itching π« and my big toes are burning (just the big toes?)
Any ideas anyone and for some relief. I'm thinking antihistamines? π€

Hello there, am on same dose and same issue in sun. I actually thought I had nits last week as scalp so itchy but none lurking and it was just the same irritating itch you describe and a red scalp!!It just went off but I have to use f50 and keep in shade. I think I have read others use antihistamines. Maybe check for contraindications with Niraparib as I see there are many things we cant use on this. Great you are getting some breaks away though xx
Cheers Laz66, yep scalp started first, then the body started and it's pretty miserable. Will check the contraindications. Really grateful that you answered. I also thought I may have picked up something!
Hi I'm on 200mg niraparib, my scalp been so itchy and stinging for weeks , tried different shampoos, nothing helping ,bought a hat to wear if sitting in garden, and factor 30 sun lotion ,will ask oncology nurse about it
Thanks for replying. π€ I think it's the heat as well has the rays. I was told to beware but I thought it would be just a case of burning easily, like with some antibiotics. Tried a baseball hat but the heat just penetrated it. Might have to buy a straw one. π€π
Its ok first thing in the morning. Then the itching starts around 11.30am onwards. The hottest part of the day. I'll stay completely out of it from then onwards today. Even swimming didn't help as the sun still penetrated my head. ππ’π€ straw hat buying day, today. I'm fine with shopping. π
I got a white bush hat off amazon to wear if I'm out in garden ,not very pretty π but does the job,if its very sunny I just put parasol up and may start using more sun lotion ,piz buin good for sensitive skin
Iβve got exactly the same with Rucaparib. I wear Factor 50 but my hands itch like mad and look like Iβve been washing by hand in caustic soda! My feet (toes) are like little shiny red sausages π€£. Socks and gloves from now on I think.
I have been on 200mg of Niraparib since Sept, 2021. I live in Toronto, Canada where during the winter you don't stay outside too long in the winter so I had not experienced that side effect from Niraparib. The end of April I went to Florida for the week. I experienced the same symptoms of itching and it was happening to my whole body. I had to stay in a long cool shower till the itching started to subside. My teenage Granddaughter had brought pure Aloe Vera gel to put on in case she got a burn and had put it in the fridge. I applied the cold gel to wherever my body was exposed to the sun and it took the itching away almost immediately. I never went in the sun again without a large straw hat and coverup. I hope my experience will help someone else.
Well I'm staying out of the sun but this is only leading me to drink more.π€£ Will post side effects but think we know the answer. π³π Cheers all.
Hi Davonian . Iβm on olaparib and had the itching . I take loratadine. I use ultra sun sun cream. Iβve not managed to find a solution for the itching around the back of my head but I use a silk pillow case which helps keep cool. I was also advised to us lots of moisturiser
