Hello, any experience of pain using above chemotherapy and how to manage it? Got pains in hip bone at moment and searing skin tender area lower tummy area, very very sensitive to touch so if something brushes on it ouch! Doc has given oramorph painkiller. Had it day 4 and now days 8.9. Not sure if it is chemo related, waiting for consultant to get in touch

Hello sorry to hear you’re having problems after chemo. Ten years ago I was given Carboplatin and taxol and the pain in my bones was so painful I couldn’t get out of bed.

This lasted for around 5-7 days. My oncologist prescribed Gabopentin tablets and tweaked my chemo dosage a little. Eventually she got me sorted out. I don’t know about the sensitive skin area but I’m sure your consultant will sort this out for you and someone on here will probably have an

answer for you.

Take care

Paclitaxol is known to cause body pain; I've avoided that particular chemo so far for precisely that reason (got enough body pain already with arthritis thanks) so can't advise how to manage it, but hopefully everyone else may have some tips.

Thanks, good to hear pain is common.

Hi Rosado22Sorry to hear you are experiencing pain after your chemo. I also am on day 4 of my first session of Taxol and am experiencing neuropathy in my toes and feet already, seems to be in areas where I have had previous injuries.ie broken toes

I am also experiencing flashes of pain in hips, stomach, hands and joints.

Contacted my CN and they did bloods- all normal.

They advised they will adjust my dose next time.

I hope your pain eases soon.

Did you take anything for the pain? Maybe my searing skin pain is to do with being near previous hernia op

I just noticed that my pain was where I had previous injuries or accidents.I have been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen 4 , which has eased it but not stopped the pain My steroids have also finished so I am expecting the pain to maybe increase?

So may have to review the pain meds again if it does.

I have just read a previous thread that mentions ALA for leg pains which I might raise with my CN:

I do hope your pain is better today

It was mainly day 4. But when I mentioned ibuprofen to oncology they said I shouldn’t be taking ibuprofen during chemotherapy cycles.
