Moms chemo today
Hop your mum does well on Carboplatin and paclitaxol . I had this first line and after six cycles and surgery was told there was no evidence of disease , I had a recurance after nine months ,I had six more cycles of carbo and paclitaxol, it reduced the disease and I had a break , when the disease started to progress again I had six more cycles of Carboplatin and paclitaxol, again it reduced the disease , I them had a parp , Rubraca, sadly didn't work for me and I've just finished six cycles of carbo and caeleyx ,it's reduced the disease ,I'm now on a break. There are lots of options left for your mum ,we all respond differently to this disease and treatment so no one can say this will work or that won't work ,trust your team but always question. Wishing you and your mum well .Cheryl.
Platinum chemo works the best and if your Mum is responding to it then that's great. They will keep an eye on her. Sue
She was responding good but it came back fast :(( but they choose to try one more time
🤞🤞🤞🤞 has your Mum had a parp, if she is platinum sensitive then there is a chance it would work for maintenance
She made brca test dont know result yet there is only olaparib for brca positiv which they offer
She should be able to get a parp without being BRCA talk to the oncologist, it might mean a Clinical Trial. She could be HRD positive.
Just get BRCa results - negativ what is HRD?
HRD is another DNA test it's when your DNA is unable to repair itself
Hi there Inguc_is
Thank you for your question about HRD. I can see you’ve already had a response to your query, but just wanted to share some more information that I hope may be helpful.
BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene changes are both types of HRD (homologous recombination deficiency) but some people who are BRCA negative, are positive for other types of HRD. HRD describes a process when the body is unable to repair damaged pathways and cells are unable to fix broken DNA, meaning cancer cells also have a harder time repairing themselves. Presently, HRD status mainly has relevance when considering eligibility for PARP inhibitors. HRD testing is a fairly recent development for those who are newly diagnosed. Access to retrospective testing can be challenging as the test requires a large tissue sample which may not be easily available, so this may be a topic for your Mom to discuss with her clinical team.
Ovacome recently hosted a webinar with Dr Rowan Miller about HRD that you may find of interest: youtube.com/watch?v=dcNRNU6...
