is there any suppliments you use?
I take Vit D and a Vit B when on chemo BUT please ask your oncologist before you take any supplements as some can interfere with efficacy of the chemo and you don't wan that!! So advice is any supplements or vitamins you want to take please ask onc first.. All the best going forward
I agree with win_56. Many supplements that are generally good for you, might interfere with the effectiveness of the chemo. Discuss and share anything you do want to use with your oncologist. There are also websites where you can check the drug interactions but it gets quite complicated. I personally involved the services of an integrative specialist (qualified Dr with a masters in genetics, kronodeus.co.za, he consults online) and we waited for my chemo treatment to be completed BEFORE we started a range of tests (extensive bloods, amino acids, GI map) and then only, based on those results and my ongoing treatment (Avastin (now completed) and Lynparza, he then prescribed supplements for me. My main aim was to rebuild my own immune system and heal my gut. It is not an overnight process but so far I am doing exceptionally well as a result of this. While on chemo I will recommend you drink LOTS of water, you keep moving, you try and eat as healthy as you can, avoid alcohol, and keep a journal. Get someone to talk to - a specialist /therapist.
Hi I made smoothies regularly in my nutribullet lots of fruit and a handful of spinach, also took a good multivitamin. I was told people get anemic on chemo so keep your iron level up.best wishes x
I carried on taking my usual multivatimins and omega 3, but not immediately after chemo, waited 4 or 5 days following chemo and then carried on taking them. Only had low bloods once before my final 6th round of chemo.
