Hello and Happy New year to all

I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies have been given oral cytoxan pills 50mg. daily in conjunction with Avastin as a maintenance after Carbo/Taxol for high grade serous ovarian cancer. I stopped chemo in September and have only been taking Avastin. My debulking surgery left some cancer on my intestines so my oncologist was hoping that the avastin would keep it from getting worse. Unfortunately my CA125 has risen steadily since the chemo ended. My cat scan showed a slight increase in the size of the nodules that were left behind, so the oncologist wanted to nip it in the bud with the oral chemo cytoxan. Any information about this drug would be greatly appreciated, as well as any insights into other treatments.

Thanks

Hi. Happy new year. I can’t respond about cytoxan but I’m wondering why I hey didn’t try a PARP inhibitor? Also have you tried trials? You can call the Clearity Foundation and discuss your treatment and also get recommendations for trials. Good luck! Xx

I think they didn’t give me a parp inhibitor because I’m not braca positive. And I don’t qualify for a trial yet because I’m not 5 years out of breast cancer. 🤦‍♀️

Niriparib has been licensed in UK since January as the only parp suitable for BRCA negative (wild type) women. My original onc did not give me it but got second opinion from Northern Centre for Cancer Care at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, and have been on it since March. Both my GP and cancer nurse referred me there for second opinion. Worth a try. All best wishes x

Thanks Cumbrian Lass. I will speak with my oncologist about it. Perhaps he’s saving it for the next time. I’m also looking into a second opinion.

Yes I am in USA. My oncologist said that the Avastin will work better with the chemo pill cytaxan. I’ve had so much chemo already because of my 2019 breast cancer diagnosis, not sure how much more my body can take. But this is a daily low dose. I hope it will bring my CA 125 down and slow the growth of the nodules that remain after my “sub optimal “ debulking surgery.

Thanks for the info. I see you are in USA too. Where have you been treated? You are an inspiration having been through 11 years of this. Thanks and Happy New Year. Joan (Cher 96)
