I finished my 6 months chemo caelyx/carbo in September. My Ca125 was good and my peritoneal ca had virtually gone. The past month I have had UTIs, I’ve had 3 lots of antibiotics, none seem to be zapping it!!! Has this happened to anyone else! It’s really getting me down! Thank you in advance my strong warriors … xx

UTI since finishing chemo
Hi , I have had a lot of UTIS, had a cystoscope (spelling) by a urologist as I had become resistant to antibiotics. He prescribed Hiprex, which seems to be working. They are such a nuisance. Wasn’t on treatment at the time though.Hope you can get it sorted out xx
Yes had that on previous chemo you need to speak to your oncologist they tend to recommend anti biotics which will help after the chemo you were on, my GP gave me anti biotics but oncologist felt there was a better one that would be more efficient, worked well no UTI anymore touch wood lol. Hope you get it resolved.
I have suffered from UTIs because of a botched mesh op. Iafter a course of antibiotics I was then put on one tablet a day and that continued for maybe 6 months plus and it definitely helped. I was told the inside of your bladder has a texture like your tongue andthese germs sort of hideaway. I still get UTIs as chemo really upsets my bladder but it will settle after I finish.
Thank you Lizzie. It’s strange that all through the chemo I had no UTIs but since finishing they seem to be ongoing. I’ve had chemo since 2018 usually every 12 months! I suppose my tummy isn’t too happy about that!
It’s bound to have some effect.
Hopefully the infections will stop soon.
Hope all goes well with your treatment.
Love Lesley xx
I know this is more homeopathic but have you tried adding a tablespoon of organic apple cider to an 8 oz glass of water a day? Or sounds awful but a teaspoon of baking soda and water? It supposedly changes your PH to more alkaline and bacteria don't do well in an alkaline state. My PH usually runs 7.5 and never under 7. I have never had a UTI. Of course you need to run by your Onc and then of course it just could be my body as well. Just a thought. I hope you find relief soon! Have had one reoccurrence since 2020 and been on 2 regimes of Chemo and Avastin for almost 2 years! just finish Doxil and Carbo waiting for scan in Jan. and then on to Olaparib......................Debbie
