How long to do the symptoms last after your last chemotherapy? Had my last chemotherapy on the 18th of this month. I still ache and was sick this morning. I’m not suffering any constipation. My bowels are working fine. Sending you all prayers and love Sheenagh xx

Hi Sheenagh, I spent five months on frontline chemo with carbo/taxol. It took me a couple of months after chemo ended before I felt noticeably better. Symptoms subsided over time. You may feel better sooner. I certainly hope you do!Sashay

Hi, it took about 8 weeks to feel more normal but most people say it takes between 12 -24 months to feel 100% yourself again - especially the chemo brain part. I am finding that 6 months after last chemo (had 6 cycles, and am still on Avastin (every 3 weeks) and Lynparza daily), my head still not as sharp as it used to be before I started with chemo

Symptoms can last few weeks and months but some go on ache and pains will go first, but I had neuropathy in fingers and toes whilst the ones in fingers have virtually gone the one in toes haven't fully gone and as am back on Chemo it has come back few hrs at a time which is more about discomfort but actually it's also better than before if that makes sense during the day ... it does take time for you to get back to how it was prior to all the surgery and treatments you undergo think about the body having to react to every thing you undergo and take the necessary measures of protecting itself and maybe failing a lil bit during chemo sessions but it will get better gradually but surely. If some thing is permanent your oncologist should be able to identify that and tell you. Wish you well and don't be worrying lots of support and help incl those on here.

Hi Sheenagh,Sorry you’re going through this. It’s so hard.

It depends on the type of chemo and what dose. You’ll definitely start to feel better soon, although the fatigue might stay- that’s what I found.

Much love, Nicky xx

I hate to say this, but 18 months out of chemo I'm still not what I used to be :( Lots of aches and pains, foot neuropathy, fuzzy brain. The worst of it - the nausea and general sickness - took about 6 months to "heal." Wish I had a happier story!
