I am looking for information for my mum about a large cyst that has appeared in her peritoneal cavity after a full de-bulking. Two years ago my mum was diagnosed with stage 3b low grade serous fallopian tube cancer and is now on letrozole. After a biopsy the results have shown suspicious cells in the cyst.
Has anyone had any experience of a peritoneum cyst ?
We are awaiting to hear back from her oncologist as to the next steps.
But any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I was diagnosed with 3b low grade back in 2015. Also, had a large cancerous cyst which was taken out after debulking surgery. I don't know about peritoneal I am afraid. I was so relieved to get rid of the cyst as it was causing ascites and made my legs and and ankles swell. I hope you hear back soon from the oncologist.
Hi - thank you so much for your reply. Glad to hear the cyst was taken out for you and hope your recovery is still going well. Interesting you were diagnosed the same as my mum, it's been a long journey for us to find out about this cancer. Yes hopefully we will hear more soon and we get a plan together. I'm finding comfort that the CT showed a large cyst and not a tumour. Did you have chemo after your debulking, Mum made the choice to go straight onto letrozole as this kind of cancer is chemo resistant.
Hope you continue to recover and sending very best wishes.
Hi sorry I did not reply to you. I had chemo 6 weeks after surgery. Mine was a tumour so had to take it out. I am going for 6 month check ups now since 2015. Now caring for my mother! Best wishes
Hi cath . I have had a large cyst appear just below my gall bladder only 6 weeks after finishing first line treatment (chemo and surgery) for low grade serous ovarian cancer with peritoneal mestastasis . At the time I was on Avastin which they then stopped . As I was asymptomatic They decided to delay further chemo until symptoms appeared . I have had one more scan since which showed no further progression . They will not take a biopsy due to the risk of spreading and will not remove it for similar reason . I am being monitored every couple of months with blood tests . When symptoms reoccur I will start more chemo . I have also joined the Care Oncology Clinic and started their protocol of drugs which treat cancer in a different way . There is no proof that it works but reading about it it seems to make sense and I feel I must try anything to prolong my life. If you are interested google COC Harley Street .
So at the moment I am watching and waiting and yes it’s difficult to live with but I am trying to make he most of this time and enjoy everything I can. 💋 xx
Bray for your reply and yes the watching and waiting is be difficult. I agree making the most of special times and enjoying the now is so important. I truly hope the cyst gets more manageable and doesn't impede on your life too much.So far my Mum's team has taken a biopsy and we waiting for the results from the pathology team. I have researched peritoneal cysts and found they are quite rare and normally occur after surgery. However all the research doesn't give us answers until the results come through.
We are looking to possibly ask for a second opinion.
Wishing you happy times and thank you so much for sharing xx
