Hair loss with carbo and doxil? Has anyone had this treatment and not lost their hair?

I am being informed my DRs that you don’t lose hair, but online says different. Any experience?

I think this drug is known as Caelyx in GB. If so, I did lose hair on this drug. I was told it would thin, and it certainly did! I think it probably depends how thick your hair is when you start taking it, but I had pink scalp showing through in some places.Jenny

Hi Ange

I has 6 does carbo an d doxil or caelyx drs use one name nurses the other. My hair did thin a lot all over after session4. The hairbrush had to be cleared off every time I brushed my hair as it was full of hair and I had to have my fringe recut in. However my friends kept saying have you been to the hairdresser your hair looks so silky and soft. Because it was not to thick it laid well. I have shoulder length straight hair which was very thick before this treatment having completely grown back from carbo and taxol 2 years before. I am lucky I have thick hair if you have very thin hair this may be more of an issue for you. That treatment considerably reduced my cancer everywhere which is also on liver and spleen so a good treatment to have. I hope that this helps you. Good luck Gillian

Hi there

I had this treatment in 2017 for a recurrence and didnt lose any hair at all. I have fine short hair buts lots of it, so it would have been very noticeable. I am on a Parp ever since and remain NED.

Good luck

Kay

I have just completed number 4 of 6 cycles of Carbo/Doxil for a recurrence. I have very short hair (I've kept it short since Carbo/Taxol, 2017)and was told it would shed/thin on this chemo combo. Same as Jenny with scalp showing through in places but it's really not too noticeable. I mess it up with gel and have had it trimmed twice since the start of treatment, at my local barber, so it's still growing too. I feel the shedding and thinning has slowed down and I trimmed the sides yesterday.

Good luck, Jaki

I had carbo and taxol before and lost everything. That is why I am wondering the difference

I didn’t lose my hair, but it thinned slightly. Hope it’s the same for you! Good luck!
