Having gained some weight during chemo (i ate too many buns as an emotional crutch!) I am now trying to loose it. However finding it impossible to shift. Anyone experience issue with weight on Olaparib or Avastin? Ive never had issues before!

Hi SuzanneYes weight gain has been a massive issue, I now rival the Hulk in size and mood a lot of the time haha. At first I exercised, 12 miles a day on the exercise bike whilst feeling sick, such fun, at the end of the week I’d of gained 3 - 4lbs on. The weight gain carried on for several months then plateaued, and I’ve stayed that weight now for the remaining several months. Sorry to be so negative but bright side you don’t have to kill yourself exercising and we’re still here. Hopefully your journey on Olaparib will be better.

Loads of love xx

Hello suzannebirch,

Thank you very much for your post. I can see that you have already had a number of supportive messages from members of the forum, but I just wanted to post a reply as I wondered if you had come across a resource that Macmillan produce about weight gain after cancer treatment? I will share a link to it here if you are interested: macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf...

We would always encourage someone who has noticed a change in their weight to speak to their GP, cancer doctor or nurse. They will be able to give you the most appropriate advice about the right way to manage this and may even be able to refer you to other health professionals or services such as specialist dieticians for support. As always, please do contact us if we can help with any further information. Our support services number is 0800 008 7054 or you can email us at support@ovacome.org.uk.

Best wishes,

Cathryn
