I posted a few weeks ago, just after having treatment for a nasty chest infection, during which I had to spend a couple of days on a ventilator. I said that I had been told that there would be no more treatment for my cancer, but I may be referred for a trial after my next oncology appointment if I was well enough. I have now had my appointment. As I have been recovering slowly & still get easily out of breath , I felt in myself that I wasn't fit enough for the trial. My oncologist agreed that I'm not fit enough. I have another appointment in 3 months time where she is willing to talk about it, but thinks it unlikely that I will be able to cope with it. So I am now aiming to get as well as I can over the summer, & spend time with my husband & family, but not think about trials. Di

Sorry to hear that, Di. I think getting yourself as fit as loss is a good plan. Can you do some rehab gym work via You Tube? There’s a great thing that helps with lymphatic drainage I did through a local cancer charity but you can get on You Tube if you look up Tripudio. It’s gentle Pilates type exercise, and helps with balance etc. I think it says nhs Scotland in the corner and is one lady standing and one lady sitting, as you can do it either way.
Thanks for your reply last week. I've just arranged to rejoin a seated exercise class I used to go to. It's opening again next week after lockdown. They do a shortish aerobic section in the middle. I've told the teacher I'm not currently fit enough to do the aerobics, but she's happy for me to come & sit out that part.
Hello Di16I do think chest infections take a long time to get over, so it’s wise to avoid complicating your recovery just now. See how you feel in 3 months.
I have been walking a lot since my brush with chest problems and gradually my breathing has improved. All the best to you xx
Hi Di, Sorry to hear your unwell. I had pneumonia after my frontline, was hospitalised for 2 weeks and it took a good 6 months to get my breathing back to normal and for the pain to go. Take it easy and be kind to yourself. All the best Sue xx
