Morning i have been taking Niraparib 200mg for 5 days with no issues until day 6 when the stomach cramps, nausea and acid reflux and constipation kicked in ... and boy the side affects floored me.. been advised to come off and let the stomach settle down.. so have managed the acid reflux with Gaviscon, nausea with anti sickness and the constipation with various laxatives... but cant stop or mask the stomach cramps...😫 consultant has advised the side affects can last anything between 6-8 weeks.. has anyone else suffered with excruciating stomach cramps whilst taking Niraparib ??? Any advice or suggestions greatly recieved as really want this to work to give me a chance from it recurring quickly.. thanks

Niraparib side affects
Not had the stomach cramps, which sound awful, but had the rest. The waves of nausea used to wake me up about every hour through the night and were debilitating during the day. However, did not want to drop lower than the 200mg I am on so put up with it and now, after about four weeks, the side effects are subsiding, apart from the insomnia. Are you drinking plenty of liquids? I find drinking loads of weak blackcurrant squash just before and after I take the pills helps a lot. Constipation can be a sign that you are a bit dehydrated.I take the pills as I go to bed and sleep well for about three hours then I am awake most of the night until getting up time. Hope my body continues to get used to them and that the insomnia passes too. And I sincerely hope that is the case for you too. The cramps sound hellish. Best wishes x
Cumbrianlass5.. thanks you are probably right im not great at drinking fluids (unless its a G&T but even that i can leave now)... i like you dont really want to drop the level.. but not sure i can continue working alongside the side affects... well here is to the next 4 weeks.. just hope my partner can put up with my short temperness and the rolling around in agony... Good luck with your ongoing journey Suds
Hi, i have been on niraparib since July of 2020. I started out with 200 mgs., but they reduced my dose to 100 mgs. after a short time. My blood counts were being affected from that higher dose. Sometimes, I even need a weekly break off from niraparib to get my blood better. I even had a blood transfusion once. I never was sick like what happened to you, just had too low hemoglobin. Hope that you do ok, but they will always check your blood also. Sorry that you have been so miserable. Take care, Donna xx Your liver can be affected from this medicine also. That’s what happened to me recently , so I needed a break. Hugs!
