How long does chemo work for

I finished last load of chemo 9 weeks ago now and am waiting for referral to surgeon. Bit worried as dont know how long I am going to wait and concerned as the plan originally was for a PARP 8 weeks after last chemo. Thought I read somewhere that it can still work for 6-8 weeks after treatment, or is this a figment of my imagination. CA had risen after last chemo although scan showed some shrinkage

Hi Rosebine If I tell you that I had to abandon my chemo in August because I was ill but my ca125 was still falling in January... that gives you an idea that it can have an effect for months. I suppose it depends how well it works overall but I wouldn’t be too concerned. The great news is that surgery is a game changer if you can have it... and you should be able to get a Parp inhibitor in the future if you need one. Take care xx

Im still waiting for appointment. I think if I do get surgery it will be just to reduce tumour burden as they are very big. Do you know if you can have caelyx for more than one line of chemo. I found it much much easier than carbo.taxol.

Do you have to wait until after surgery to start a Parp or can it just be started anyway?

Do you have an appointment due with the oncologist to ask? If not I think I would want to give the oncologist a nudge. Could you call his secretary or the cancer specialist nurse and explain your worries and that you are still waiting for a surgical appointment?

I sure they will be able to help you. Hope you get some answers very soon.

Dont know why I couldnt have started Parp, but its now more than 8 weeks since chemo and it has to be started within 8 weeks. Ive messaged the CNS's to see whats happening. Hasnt helped Ive just read in the paper about cancer surgeries being delayed!
