Hello
Ovacome is working with Dr Diana Frimpong, a PhD student at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol, who is asking people who have had ovarian cancer treatment their views on taking part in medical research.
Dr Frimpong would like this group to answer a short anonymous questionnaire so that she can use the results to plan the recruitment of people to take part in a research study on spectroscopy, which is a new method of analysing blood and tissue samples.
Completing the questionnaire does not mean you will take part in the study. The research participants will be recruited separately and join the study when they first attend a clinic. The questionnaire answers will help with successful recruitment of these participants.
The research could lead to earlier diagnosis by finding changes that blood samples can be tested for and give clinicians more knowledge about responses to treatment for ovarian cancer. It could also help to identify tissue that needs to be removed during operations to make surgery for ovarian cancer as effective as possible.
If you choose to answer the questionnaire the information that you provide will be held confidentially with other documentation relating to the project. Further details about how your information is collected, used and shared is available on their Privacy Notice: uhbristol.nhs.uk/privacy/
If you would like to complete the questionnaire, you can do so at surveymonkey.com/r/32ZHQ83
Separately, Dr Frimpong is also seeking people to be a representatives on her public involvement team.
This is a key role and involves telephone or virtual group discussions, using your insights and experience of ovarian cancer to advise the research group on areas that you think are important; how to make the study more relevant, what is acceptable and feedback on information sharing around the study process and results.
If you would be interested in joining the public involvement team or would like more information, please get in touch with us at support@ovacome.org.uk.
Best wishes
Julia
