My oncologist prescribed Letrozle for me instead of faslodex and it says it causes hair loss . I don't need to lose more hair. Is there something else out there. Helena

Morning. My mum was on letrozole for 5 years until she moved on to her latest drug. Mum never had any hair loss whilst on it. X

Hi Helena, I was on Letrozole for quite a while (can't remember how long, now) and I didn't lose any hair. Hope you'll be the same. Solange 😊Xx

I've been on letrozole for over a year. Side effects can vary from woman to woman. My experience has been tolerable, maybe some minor hair thinning but not hair loss (honestly my hair has never been the same since 1st round chemo, but I do have hair!) Was told by my oncologist that if I found the side effects too miserable, other drugs with the same mechanism could be tried, and side effects would possibly be different. It's always a balance of doing things aimed at slowing or stopping the disease versus quality of life. All the best! Deb in Colorado

It doesn’t really cause hair loss as such, it lowers the body’s oestrogen levels so much that hair can get thinner due to lack of oestrogen, which means the drug is doing its job. All these oestrogen blockers have the same effect and not everybody will experience thinning hair.

does faslodex have the same affect'
