My OC has spread to the pleura (tissue surrounding the lungs) and my oncologist is starting my on Alimta. I know it's primarily for lung cancer, but wondering if anyone has experience with it.

Hello SuperkimIt seems no one has this experience to share with you. I haven’t had Alimta but I am interested because I’ve had so many problems with pleural effusion etc. Do keep us posted about how you get on xx

Hey Lindy!

My pleural effusions are being handled by permanent Pleurx Catheters that I drain myself daily. While I hate them, they have been a lifesaver. The Alimta is for the tumors that are growing on the pleura itself. If I am not a candidate for surgery, the chemo will commence on the 17th. Huzzah!
